HAL Junior Executive Eligibility Criteria 2026

You need a regular, full-time B.E./B.Tech in an eligible branch from a recognised university, plus the minimum aggregate marks. Only Indian nationals can apply, and internal HAL candidates are not considered.

Educational Qualification and Minimum Marks

  • UR, OBC-NCL and EWS: At least 60% aggregate marks
  • SC, ST and PwBD: At least 50% aggregate marks

The aggregate is calculated across all semesters or years, with no rounding off. The degree must follow the 10+2+4 pattern, or 10+3+3 for lateral entry after a diploma. Diploma holders must enter their degree marks, not diploma marks.

  • Five- or six-year integrated degrees in the relevant branch are accepted.
  • If your university gives CGPA, enter the equivalent percentage as per its own norms and bring a conversion certificate to the interview.
  • Distance, correspondence, part-time and e-learning degrees are not eligible.
  • Degrees from professional bodies (such as AMIE-type courses) count only if you enrolled on or before 31 May 2013.
  • You must hold the qualification and show proof of the minimum marks at the interview.

Eligible Engineering Branches

  • Aeronautical: Aeronautical, Aerospace
  • Civil: Civil Engineering
  • Chemical: Chemical Engineering
  • Computer Science: Computer Science/Engineering, CSE (AI), CSE (AI & ML), CSE (Cyber Security), IT, Information Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Networking and related branches
  • Electrical: Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, Electrical Instrumentation & Control, Electrical & Power
  • Electronics: Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, VLSI Design & Technology, Electronics & Control Systems
  • Mechanical: Mechanical, Mechanical & Industrial, Mechanical & Production, Mechatronics, Mechanical & Automation
  • Production: Production, Industrial, Manufacturing, Production & Industrial, Industrial Engineering & Management, Manufacturing Process & Automation and related branches
  • Metallurgy: Metallurgy, Materials & Metallurgy, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering or Technology, Metallurgy & Material Science

HAL may accept other branches of the same discipline, provided the degree certificate names that discipline. You can apply for only one discipline. Applying for more than one gets all your applications rejected and the fee forfeited.

HAL Junior Executive Age Limit 2026

The upper age limit is 28 years as on 17 October 2026 for UR and EWS candidates. Relaxations are:

  • SC/ST: 5 years (up to 33 years)
  • OBC-NCL: 3 years (up to 31 years)
  • PwBD: 10 years, on top of any SC/ST/OBC relaxation
  • J&K domicile (1 January 1980 to 31 December 1989): 5 years
  • Ex-servicemen and serving Armed Forces officers: As per company rules

Even after all relaxations, age cannot exceed 55 years (56 for PwBD). Reserved category candidates applying against UR posts are treated as UR and get no relaxation.

HAL Junior Executive Salary 2026

The HAL Junior Executive salary starts at a basic pay of Rs. 30,000 per month in the DPE E0 pay scale (Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1,20,000). On top of the basic, you get:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA): Revised every quarter
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): As per city classification, when company quarters are not given
  • Cafeteria Allowance: 35% of basic pay (Rs. 10,500 at the starting basic)
  • Annual increment: 3% of basic pay in the second and third years

Other Benefits

  • Reimbursement of up to Rs. 25,000 a year for a medical insurance policy covering up to Rs. 10 lakh (proof due within 3 months of joining)
  • Casual leave, vacation leave and compensatory off, with vacation leave encashment at the end of the tenure
  • Uniform, stitching charges and shoe allowance, as for regular officers
  • Maternity benefits, creche facilities and paternity leave
  • Provident Fund, and pro-rata gratuity after at least one year of service
  • TA/DA for joining, temporary duty and transfers, at Grade-I officer level
  • Periodic medical check-ups and company quarters where available
  • Special allowance, transport allowance and special casual leave for eligible PwBD staff

Short-term executives are not covered by HAL’s in-house hospitals and dispensaries, and they get no allowances beyond those listed.

Tenure and Posting

This is a temporary engagement for a maximum of 3 years. It ends automatically after 3 years from joining, and there is no extension. Either side can end it earlier with one month’s notice, or one month’s Basic + DA in lieu of notice.

The job does not give you the status of a regular HAL executive. You will sign an undertaking at joining accepting these terms. You can be posted or transferred to any HAL division, R&D centre or office, and requests for a change of posting are not entertained after joining.

HAL Junior Executive Selection Process 2026

The HAL Junior Executive selection process is an interview only, with no written test. Your degree marks decide whether you are called.

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates are ranked by aggregate degree marks and called in a ratio of up to 1:10 against the vacancies in each discipline and category. Reserved candidates who do not use any relaxation are first ranked with UR candidates. Those not shortlisted under UR are then considered in their own category. If marks are tied, the older candidate is called first.
  2. Document verification: Before the interview, you must show originals of everything declared in your form, plus a No Objection Certificate if you work in a government, PSU or similar body.
  3. Interview: A selection committee assesses your suitability. You need at least 50% marks in the interview to qualify, with relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD as per rules. Final selection is based on interview performance.
  4. Medical examination: Selected candidates must pass HAL’s pre-employment medical test, with no relaxation in health standards.

The shortlist will be posted on the HAL website, and interview details will be sent only by email. Candidates who fail to produce a required NOC cannot sit the interview and will not get travel allowance.

HAL Junior Executive Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 500 (including 18% GST) for UR, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates. SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt. Pay online through SBI Collect by credit card, net banking or UPI. The fee is non-refundable, and an application without the fee is rejected.

Tips for HAL Junior Executive Applicants

  • Apply early. The window closes at 2:00 PM on 17 October 2026, and fee validation can take up to 3 days.
  • Calculate your aggregate correctly. HAL adds total marks across all semesters with no rounding off, so 59.9% does not count as 60%.
  • Pick the right discipline. Choose the one that matches your degree branch, and apply only once.
  • Arrange documents now. Keep your CGPA conversion certificate, OBC/EWS certificate in the central format, and employer NOC ready for the interview.
  • Revise core subjects. Selection rests entirely on the interview, so brush up on your branch fundamentals, projects and internships.
  • Beware of fraud. HAL warns against fake emails, WhatsApp messages and agents asking for money for jobs.
