Can West Bengal Candidates Apply for IOPB Tradesman Posts ?
Yes. IoP Bhubaneswar is a central government institute under DAE, and the IOPB Tradesman Recruitment 2026 notification does not include any domicile or state restriction. Eligible candidates from any state, including West Bengal, can apply.
Points to note for candidates from West Bengal:
- WBSCVT/NCVT ITI certificates: The notification asks for a certificate from a “Government-recognized Board/Council/Institute”. Both the NCVT (central) and WBSCVT (state council) are government bodies, so ITI certificates from either should generally meet this requirement. For the Mason post, the notification explicitly accepts a State Trade Certificate.
- Caste certificate format: For reserved posts in central government jobs, a caste certificate in the Government of India (central) format is usually required. If you are applying for TA-02 (ST) or TA-03 (SC), make sure your certificate is valid for central government jobs.
- Allow enough time for postal delivery: Speed Post from Kolkata or elsewhere in Bengal to Bhubaneswar usually arrives within a few days, but delays are possible. Try to post your application by early November, and keep the tracking number.
- Exam and Trade Test location: The exam and trade test will most likely be held in Bhubaneswar, so plan your travel. Bhubaneswar is well connected to Howrah by direct trains.
- Shift duty and campus work: The Electrical posts include three-shift duty. Consider whether a job based in Bhubaneswar suits you before applying.
