GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Recruitment 2026: The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar, has officially released the detailed notification for the recruitment of Sanitary Inspector, Class-3, under Advertisement No. 455/2026-27. The posts fall under the Additional Director, Medical Education and Research, Gandhinagar, functioning under the Health and Family Welfare Department. A total of 22 vacancies will be filled through a competitive examination. Eligible candidates can apply online through https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in from 17.08.2026 (2:00 PM) to 31.08.2026 (11:59 PM).

Eligibility Conditions

Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India, or possess a nationality as specified under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Age Limit

As on 31.08.2026, the candidate’s age must NOT be less than 18 years and NOT more than 33 years. Candidates already in the service of the Government of Gujarat may be granted relaxation in the upper age limit as per the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

1. Passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC/Class 12) examination from a recognised Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, or hold an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government; AND
2. A minimum one-year Health Sanitary Inspector’s Diploma course from a Government-recognised educational institute; OR
3. A minimum one-year certificate course of Health Sanitary Inspector’s from an Industrial Training Institute or Government-recognised educational institute.

Additionally, candidates must possess:

• Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Note: Candidates holding equivalent qualifications to Class-12 (such as a 2-year or longer ITI course after Class 10 with NCVT/GCVT certification, followed by passing the Class-12 English subject exam through GSHSEB or Gujarat Open School; or a 3-year Diploma from a Polytechnic after Class 10) will also be considered eligible.

GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed pay of ₹26,000/- per month for the first five years, as per the relevant Finance Department resolutions. Upon satisfactory completion of five years of service, candidates will be eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission pay scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 (Level-4), subject to the outcome of pending SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

GSSSB Sanitary Inspector 2026 Exam Pattern

The examination will be conducted in a single stage as an objective-type MCQ-based CBRT/OMR competitive examination, divided into Part-A and Part-B.

Part-A

Part-B

• Part-A comprises 90 questions and Part-B comprises 120 questions, totaling 210 questions.
• A combined duration of 3 hours (180 minutes) is allowed for both parts.
• Negative marking applies: 1/4th of the marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
• Both Part-A and Part-B carry an independent minimum qualifying standard of 40% each; no category is exempt from this minimum requirement.

Selection Process

1. After the exam, a Provisional Answer Key will be published, followed by a Final Answer Key after considering objections raised by candidates.
2. The provisional result of all candidates who appeared for the exam will be published on the Board’s website.
3. Candidates within approximately twice the number of vacancies (category-wise), based on merit in Part-A and Part-B combined, will be called for document verification.
4. Following document verification, the final selection list and waiting list will be prepared category-wise based on merit obtained in the competitive examination.
5. The exam is tentatively planned for December 2026; exam centres, dates, timing, and hall ticket details will be published on the Board’s website.

How to Apply for GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Recruitment 2026

Only online applications will be accepted through the Board’s portal. Follow these steps:

1. Visit ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Click “Apply” under “Online Application” and select GSSSB.
3. Click on the Sanitary Inspector, Class-3 (Advt. No. 455/2026-27) category name, then click “Apply.” Review the “More Details” option to read the complete advertisement.
4. Click “Apply Now,” then “Skip” to open the Application Format. Fill in “Personal Details” (fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory). Note: One Time Registration (OTR) is only a supporting module for faster online applications — completing OTR alone does NOT constitute submission of an application for this advertisement.
5. Fill in “Educational Details.”
6. Accept the terms under “Assurance” by selecting “Yes,” then click “Save” to complete the application.
7. Click “Save” to generate the Application Number — retain this number safely.
8. Upload photograph and signature: enter the Application Number and Date of Birth, then upload photo (5 cm height × 3.6 cm width) and signature (2.5 cm height × 7.5 cm width) in JPG format, each not exceeding 15 KB.
9. Click “Confirm Application” under the “Online Application” tab, enter Application Number and Date of Birth, review all details, and edit if necessary. No changes are possible once the application is confirmed.
10. Click “Print Application” to download and retain a copy until the recruitment process is complete; the form cannot be downloaded after the last date of application.

Note: Only one application should be submitted per candidate. If multiple applications are submitted, the last confirmed application will be considered valid, and the fee paid against earlier applications will not be adjusted or refunded.
