BMC Apprentice Recruitment 2026: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Labour Department, has officially released the draft notification for engagement of Trade Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Under Notice No. क.प्रकाअ/585/एमसी dated 11.08.2026, approval has been granted vide the Municipal Commissioner’s reference No. एमजीसी/0673 dated 16.06.2026 to recruit Trade Apprentices across various departments/divisions/hospitals of the Corporation. A total of 612 posts have been finalised for ITI-trained apprentices, with the training period fixed at one year.

The recruitment drive is being organised by the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Maharashtra State, along with the Assistant Apprenticeship Advisor (Technical), Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, ATI, Mumbai. BMC Apprentice 2026 Stipend (Trade-wise)

Reservation of Vacancies

Reserved posts are distributed as per prevailing Government of Maharashtra norms, covering the following categories in each trade: SC, ST, VJ(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), SBC, EWS, Women (30%), Ex-Servicemen (15%), Project-Affected Persons (5%), Sportspersons (5%), Earthquake-Affected (2%), Orphans (1%), and Persons with Disabilities (4%). Category-wise reservation for each trade has been detailed separately in the official notification (e.g., Fitter — 58 posts, Wireman — 33 posts, Electrician — 40 posts, Plumber — 66 posts, and so on), along with disability sub-category breakup wherever applicable.

Note: Posts reserved for socially and educationally backward classes (10%), economically weaker sections (10%), and semi-literate unemployed (not applicable to apprentices) will be filled as per the respective Government Resolutions cited in the notification.

Educational Eligibility

• The Trade Apprentice must have passed the SSC (10th) examination or an equivalent/higher examination with Marathi as a 100-mark subject.
• The candidate must have passed all stages/levels of the examinations conducted at the ITI.

Eligibility Conditions

• The candidate must be a domicile of Maharashtra State.
• Physical Fitness: A certificate of physical fitness issued by the BMC’s Medical Examiner must be submitted.
• Police Character Verification: The police character verification certificate must be submitted within a maximum of 2 months from the commencement of training.

Age Limit

• The trainee’s age must NOT be less than 14 years (as per the Apprentices Act, 1961).
• The maximum age limit will be as per applicable Government norms.

Stipend

Stipend will be payable as per the guidelines specified in the relevant Government Resolution (see trade-wise stipend table above).

Selection Criteria and Behavioural Instructions

1. Only candidates who have passed ITI from institutes within Maharashtra State should log in at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, and under “Apprenticeship Opportunities,” select MCGM as the organisation.
2. Selection will be made based on the marks secured in the final-stage ITI examination as stated in the application submitted at the recruitment mela, along with applicable social and parallel reservation.
3. In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, seniority by date of birth will be used as the tiebreaker (older candidate given preference).
4. Backward class candidates transferred from other states to Maharashtra will NOT be considered for reserved posts.
5. Reserved (social/parallel) posts will be filled as per Government directives.
6. If sufficient candidates are not available under social/parallel reservation, remaining posts will be filled from candidates with the highest marks in the general selection order.
7. The list of names of selected trainees will be published on the BMC website.
8. Selected candidates will be called for verification of original documents; after verification, an offer will be issued through the online system. Upon acceptance, an online Model Contract of Apprenticeship Training will be executed.
9. If a selected candidate does not accept the offer within 07 days of it being sent online, the selection will be cancelled, and no further request will be entertained; the next candidate on the merit list will be selected.
10. As per Section 22 of the Apprentices Act, 1961, the Corporation is NOT obligated to absorb apprentices into municipal service after completion of their training period. Selected candidates must submit an undertaking acknowledging that selection as an apprentice does not confer any right to future permanent employment.
11. A Model Contract of Apprenticeship Training will be executed with selected candidates; this contract cannot be cancelled without the approval of the Assistant Apprenticeship Advisor (Technical).
