Who is Eligible to Apply for CSIR Technician (1) Recruitment?
Candidates having SSC/10th Standard with Science subjects along with the relevant ITI/trade qualification, or equivalent apprenticeship/work experience, are eligible for the Technician (1) post. The trade-wise eligibility is discussed below.
Educational Qualification (Common Pattern Across All Trades)
SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects, with a minimum of 55% marks, AND one of the following:
- ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the concerned trade (COPA, DTPO, CH&NM, MLT, Draughtsman, Instrument Mechanic, LACP, or Interior Designer), OR
- 2 years’ full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognized institution in the concerned trade, OR
- 3 years’ work experience in the concerned trade in a Ministry/Department/Organization/PSU/Autonomous Body under the Government of India/State/UT

Candidates will go through a multi-stage selection process:
- Screening of applications by a duly constituted Screening Committee
- Trade Test – qualifying in nature, for shortlisted candidates
- Written Examination – Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III for candidates who qualify the Trade Test
The Final Merit List will be prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III; Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who clear the minimum threshold in Paper-I.
