The wait is over for lakhs of SSC CGL aspirants. Since yesterday, 21st September, the Staff Selection Commission has made the SSC CGL City Intimation Slip 2026 available on its website, ssc.gov.in. One login is all it takes to find out which city you’ll be travelling to and on which day your Tier 1 exam falls.
The countdown is short. Tier 1 starts on 30th September and continues till 30th October 2026, which means the earliest batch has barely a week left. If you haven’t checked your slip yet, do it today.

What Exactly Does the SSC CGL City Slip Tell You?
Think of the city slip as an early heads-up. It shows the city and state of your exam centre and the date of your paper, along with your name, registration number and the exam name. What it does not show is the exact centre address or your roll number. Those come later on the admit card.
The purpose is simple: SSC wants candidates to book tickets and arrange a place to stay before the rush begins. Once allotted, the city, date, shift and centre cannot be changed for any reason, so there’s no point waiting for a better allotment.

Own Scribe Candidates: Complete These Steps by 24 September
If you have opted for the “Own Scribe” facility in CGL Tier 1, this section is urgent for you. SSC has changed the scribe process, and missing the deadline means no scribe entry pass.
1. Your scribe needs a fresh registration. All scribe registrations done before 05.11.2025 have been disposed of. So even if your scribe was registered earlier, they may need to register again on SSC’s website.
2. Registration is now Aadhaar-based. Scribe registration has been integrated with Aadhaar authentication. Anyone who wants to appear as a scribe must complete this fresh registration.
3. Map your scribe’s registration number. After your scribe registers, you must submit or map their registration number (Scribe OTR) from your own login. Only then will the Scribe Entry Pass be generated.
4. Deadline: 24.09.2026, 11:00 PM. Scribe Entry Pass will be generated only for candidates who successfully map their Scribe OTR within this time.
5. Check the scribe’s age limit. The maximum permissible age for an own scribe will follow SSC’s updated policy (Policy No. PP001/14/2024-PP, dated 04.11.2025). Make sure your scribe fits this rule before registering. All other scribe guidelines remain as per the CGL 2026 exam notice.
With only two days left, get your scribe’s Aadhaar authentication and registration done today, then map it immediately. Don’t leave it for the last evening, when the website is likely to be slow.
Steps to Check Your Exam City on ssc.gov.in
Head to ssc.gov.in and find the Candidate Login area on the homepage. Select the SSC CGL Tier 1 Examination 2026 link, then enter your registration number and password along with the captcha. After logging in, your slip opens on screen. Save a PDF copy and take a printout for reference.
Login not working? Traffic is usually heavy in the first couple of days. Try again during off-peak hours such as early morning or late night. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the recovery option on the login page instead of making repeated wrong attempts.

- Double-check your details. Make sure your name and registration number are correct. Report any error to SSC immediately.
- Book travel now. Trains to major exam cities fill up quickly during a month-long exam window. If your city is outside your district or state, plan to arrive a day early.
- Find a stay nearby. Once the admit card reveals the centre address, choose accommodation close to it to avoid morning traffic.
- Keep your Aadhaar ready. SSC will run Aadhaar-based biometric verification at the centre, so carry your Aadhaar card plus one more valid photo ID.

Many candidates from Bengal, especially from north Bengal and the western districts, often get centres in Kolkata or nearby cities. Local trains and buses get crowded on weekdays, so leave with plenty of buffer time. Those allotted a city outside the state should check train availability right away rather than waiting for the admit card.

Gates shut half an hour before the paper begins, and latecomers are not let in. Treat the reporting time as your real deadline.
City Slip vs Admit Card: Don’t Mix Them Up
The city slip is only for information. The admit card (e-call letter) is your entry pass. SSC releases it 2 to 3 days before each candidate’s exam date, and it carries the full centre address, roll number and shift. Bring a printed admit card on exam day; the city slip alone won’t get you through the gate.
