The Central Reserve Police Forcehas released the official notification for the recruitment of meritorious sportspersons to the posts of Head Constable (General Duty) and Constable (General Duty) under the Sports Quota 2026. A total of 521 vacancies have been announced across 22 sports disciplines, open to both male and female Indian citizens.

This is a Group “C”, non-gazetted, non-ministerial recruitment on a temporary basis that is likely to become permanent. Selection is based on sports achievements rather than a written exam, which makes it one of the best opportunities for athletes who have medalled or participated at state, national, university, school, or international level in the last two years.

CRPF Sports Quota Vacancy 2026: Post-wise Details

CRPF has stated that these vacancies are tentative and may increase or decrease at any stage of the recruitment process for administrative reasons.

Discipline-wise CRPF Sports Quota Vacancies 2026

The vacancies are spread across 22 sports. Athletics has the highest number of posts, followed by Aquatics and Shooting.

Event-wise and weight-category-wise breakdowns (for example, 60 kg Boxing or 10m Air Rifle) are given in the detailed notification, so athletes should confirm that a vacancy exists in their exact event before applying.

CRPF Sports Quota Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be paid according to the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix. A Head Constable (GD) is placed in Pay Level 4 with a scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100, while a Constable (GD) is placed in Pay Level 3 with a scale of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100. In addition to basic pay, employees receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other allowances admissible in CRPF from time to time. The New Defined Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS) will apply to all appointees.

CRPF Sports Quota Eligibility Criteria 2026

Age Limit

The age limit for both posts is 18 to 23 years as on 01 August 2026. Paragraph 4 of the notification states that candidates should have been born not earlier than 02/08/2003 and not later than 01/08/2008. Note that paragraph 5 of the same notification mentions slightly different dates (02/01/2003 and 01/01/2008), so candidates close to the boundary should check the official website for any corrigendum.

Age Relaxation

Meritorious sportspersons already get an extra five years of relaxation, which is added to the usual category-based relaxation.

Departmental candidates with three years of continuous service get up to 5 years of relaxation, plus an additional 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (NCL).

Educational Qualification

For Head Constable (GD), candidates must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent from a recognised Board or University, or hold an equivalent Army qualification in the case of ex-Army personnel. For Constable (GD), Matriculation (10th pass) or equivalent from a recognised board is sufficient. In both cases, the qualification must be held on or before 11 November 2026, and candidates awaiting results are not eligible.

Sports Qualification for Head Constable (GD)

To apply for the HC/GD post, a candidate must fall into at least one of these categories: having represented India in a recognised international competition with clearance from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports; having represented a State or UT in National Games or National Championships organised by recognised National Sports Federations or the Indian Olympic Association and won a medal or position up to 3rd place; having secured 1st or 2nd position in an individual event at the Inter-University Tournaments (or reached the final in a team event) conducted by AIU or the Inter-University Sports Board; or having won Gold or Silver in an individual or team event at a Junior National Games or Championship organised by a recognised National Sports Federation.

Sports Qualification for Constable (GD)

The criteria for CT/GD are more relaxed. Eligible candidates include those who have represented a State in Senior or Junior National Games or Championships organised by recognised National Sports Federations; those who have represented State School Teams in National School Games conducted by SGFI and won medals or positions up to 3rd place; those who have represented a State or UT in Khelo India University Games, Khelo India Youth Games, or Khelo India Winter Games and won medals or positions up to 3rd place; and those who have represented their University in Inter-University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Boards.

Validity of Sports Certificates

Only achievements from the last two years count, which means medals or participation between 30 September 2024 and 30 September 2026. Older achievements will not be considered.

CRPF Sports Quota Marks Scheme 2026

There is no written exam in this recruitment. The final merit list is prepared purely on marks awarded for the single highest sports achievement of the candidate during the eligible period. If a candidate has won multiple medals in the same competition, only the highest is counted, and marks from separate competitions are not added together.

Tie-Breaking Rules

When two candidates have equal marks, the one with the higher achievement in national competition is placed higher if both have similar international achievements. If the tie persists, the older candidate gets priority, and if it still persists, alphabetical order of the name in English is used.

CRPF Sports Quota Physical Standards 2026

Height

The standard height requirement is 170 cm for men and 157 cm for women. Relaxation is available for certain categories.

Chest (Male Only)

Male candidates need an unexpanded chest of 80 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm. ST candidates get relaxation to 76 cm; Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, HP, J&K and Ladakh need 78 cm; and candidates from the North-Eastern states and GTA need 77 cm. Minimum expansion remains 5 cm in all cases.

Weight

Weight must be proportionate to height and age as per the medical chart in Annexure D of the notification. For outstanding sportspersons, the Recruitment Board may recommend relaxation in height, chest, or weight, subject to approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

CRPF Sports Quota Selection Process 2026

The selection is carried out in several stages. It begins with identity verification, including Aadhaar-based biometric capture, which may be repeated at every stage. Next comes document verification, where candidates must produce original certificates for age, education, caste, domicile, and sports achievements in the prescribed formats. Those who clear documentation appear for the Physical Standard Test (PST), which checks height, chest, and weight. Qualified candidates then take the Sports Trial Test in their discipline, conducted by a Board of Officers; this is qualifying only, carries no marks, may include a dope test, and cannot be appealed. The merit list is then drawn up on the basis of sports achievement marks, and shortlisted candidates undergo a Detailed Medical Examination (DME), with a Review Medical Examination (RME) available to those declared unfit, provided they submit written consent within 24 hours.

Medical Standards

Candidates must have minimum distance vision of 6/6 and 6/9 in both eyes without spectacles or lenses. Colour blindness, knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, and squint are grounds for rejection. Tattoos are allowed only on the inner left forearm or back of the hand, must be smaller than a quarter of that body part, and may depict religious symbols or names as permitted in the Indian Army.

How to Apply for CRPF Sports Quota Recruitment 2026

The application process is entirely online through https://rect.crpf.gov.in, and offline applications will be rejected outright. Start by visiting the official website and creating your profile with a valid mobile number and email ID, since all communication is sent by SMS and email. Before applying, upload a copy of the certificate supporting your highest medal, position, or level of participation in your profile, because applications without this upload are rejected at scrutiny. Then fill in the application form carefully, making sure your name, date of birth, and parents’ names exactly match your Matriculation certificate, and clearly select the post and sports discipline you are applying for. Upload a clear photograph, signature, and thumb impression, pay the fee if applicable, and submit the form before 11:59 PM on 11 November 2026. Finally, download and keep a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

Each candidate may apply for only one post. Multiple applications from the same candidate will all be rejected.

Important Documents Required

At the time of document verification, candidates need to bring the originals of their Matriculation certificate (for date of birth), educational qualification certificates, sports merit certificates in the prescribed forms (Annexures J to N), caste certificate in the prescribed format (SC/ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS valid for 2026–27), the OBC undertaking if applicable, the Annexure I certificate for height and chest relaxation if claimed, a No Objection Certificate if already in government service, Aadhaar card, one other photo ID, and four recent passport-size photographs identical to the one uploaded online.

Sports certificates must be signed by the correct authority. International competition certificates are signed by the Secretary of the National Federation, national competition certificates by the Secretary of the National Federation or State Association, inter-university certificates by the Dean of Sports of the university, school games certificates by the concerned Director or Deputy Director of the State Education Directorate, and Khelo India certificates by the designated officer of the Sports Authority of India.

Service Bond and Post-Selection Conditions

Selected candidates must sign a bond of ₹1,00,000 committing to serve the force for at least three years. Their sporting performance will be closely monitored for two years by the Training Directorate, and if their standard falls below the required level within that period, their services may be terminated. Sportspersons whose performance declines due to age, illness, or injury can also be posted to general duty battalions for combat duties anywhere in India. The posts carry all-India service liability, including possible postings abroad.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Persons with disabilities (PwD) are not eligible for this recruitment. Candidates who do not possess the educational qualification or sports certificates by 11 November 2026, or whose achievements fall outside the 30 September 2024 to 30 September 2026 window, should not apply.
