BEL Probationary Engineer Recruitment 2026 Overview

BEL makes military communication, radars, naval systems, weapon systems and electronic warfare equipment, with over 350 products. The table below gives the key details of the BEL Probationary Engineer notification.

BEL Probationary Engineer Vacancy 2026 and Reservation

BEL has announced 350 vacancies, which include backlog vacancies. The numbers can be increased or decreased as per actual requirement. The first table gives the category-wise vacancy and the second gives the PwBD vacancies.

BEL Probationary Engineer Eligibility Criteria

You need a 4-year engineering degree from an AICTE approved college in the specified discipline. The marks needed depend on your category. The table below gives the discipline and the marks rule, and the points under it explain the other conditions.

• Candidates with first class in AMIE / AMIETE / GIETE in the above disciplines are also eligible.
• Other equivalent disciplines and dual specialisations will NOT be considered. The specialisation in your degree certificate must match the branch you select in the form.
• If your final marks are in CGPA/GPI/SGPA, keep the percentage conversion certificate or formula from your university ready for the interview. Without it, your candidature is cancelled.
• Candidates with colour blindness are not suitable for the post, as per BEL's medical standards.

BEL Probationary Engineer Age Limit and Relaxation

The maximum age is 25 years as on October 1, 2026 for UR and EWS candidates. The table below shows the relaxation. For age proof, only the Matriculation / Higher Secondary certificate showing the date of birth is accepted (a birth certificate if the date is not on the certificate).

Certificates needed for reservation:

• EWS: Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26, issued on or after April 1, 2026.
• OBC (NCL): Caste must be in the Central List, and the certificate must be issued on or after October 1, 2025. Creamy layer candidates must apply as Unreserved.
• SC/ST: Certificate in the latest format, with the caste in the Central List.
• PwBD: Minimum 40% disability and a certificate in the latest format.
• Ex-Servicemen: Annexure-3 in the prescribed format, signed by the competent authority.

BEL Probationary Engineer Application Fee

The fee is paid online through the SBI e-Pay Lite gateway (Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, Wallets or UPI) after you submit the form. The fee is not refunded in any case, so check your eligibility first.

BEL Probationary Engineer Selection Process

The selection has two stages, a CBT and an interview. The final merit is made from both. The table below gives the weightage and the qualifying marks.

• You must qualify the CBT and the interview separately.
• Based on the CBT, candidates are shortlisted for the interview in the ratio of 1:5, discipline-wise and category-wise.
• The shortlisted list is shown on the BEL website in query mode.
• Outstation candidates called for interview get the AC Chair Car or III Tier AC train fare by the shortest route. No travel cost is paid for the CBT.
• Candidates working in Government departments, PSUs or autonomous bodies must bring an NOC at the interview.

BEL Probationary Engineer CBT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The CBT has 125 questions in 120 minutes, and every question carries 1 mark. A wrong answer loses 1/4 mark. The question paper is in English and Hindi, and the English version is final if there is any difference. You can answer the CBT and interview in English or Hindi.

Syllabus: BEL has not given a topic list. The technical questions come from the core engineering subjects of your degree (Electronics or Mechanical), and the aptitude section tests analytical and reasoning ability. How to Apply for BEL Probationary Engineer Recruitment 2026

The application is online only, and it opens on October 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Keep a valid email ID and mobile number, a recent passport size colour photo (not older than 3 months) and a scanned signature ready. The table below shows the upload specifications, and the steps follow.

1. Visit the BEL careers page on bel-india.in and read the advertisement fully.
2. Step I (Registration): Fill in your personal and contact details, generate OTPs for your mobile and email, verify them and submit. Your Application Sequence No. (User ID) and password are sent by email and SMS.
3. Step II (Application): Log in again and fill in personal, additional, communication and qualification details, and upload your photo and signature.
4. Preview the form, correct any error, and then submit. You cannot edit the form after submission.
5. If you are a General, OBC (NCL) or EWS candidate, pay the Rs. 1,180 fee through the SBI e-Pay Lite gateway.
6. Print the application form and the payment slip and keep them. Do not send any hard copy to BEL.

Important points:

• Apply only once. If you submit more than one form, only the one with the higher Application Sequence Number is considered, and the fee is not adjusted.
• Your category cannot be changed once filled.
