ICG CGEPT Selection Process

  1. Stage I: Computer Based Examination (CBE), with identity check and biometric recording
  2. Stage II: Physical Fitness Test, Assessment and Adaptability Test, Document Verification and Recruitment Medical Examination at ICG recruitment centres
  3. Stage III: Aadhaar-based identity check, document verification, pre-enrolment medical and submission of documents at INS Chilka
  4. Stage IV: Verification of original documents with the boards, universities and state authorities
  • Stage II is held jointly for both batches, lasts 1 to 2 days, and is only qualifying.
  • Shortlisting for Stage II depends on Stage I marks and the handling capacity of recruitment centres. Date and centre for Stage II are allotted on a first come, first served basis.
  • The final merit list is based only on Stage I marks, qualification in all parts of Stage II and the number of vacancies.
  • Assessment test marks are not part of the merit and are used only to break a tie.
  • Tie-breaking rule: the older candidate is placed higher, then the candidate with more marks in the Assessment Test.
  • Merit lists are zone-wise and category-wise for Navik (GD) male, and All India category-wise for all other posts.

All four tests are done one after another without a break, and any break means failing the PFT. Carry sports kit (shoes, T-shirt and trousers). Candidates who clear the PFT then take the online or OMR-based Assessment and Adaptability Test, and its result is announced at the venue.

Candidates who use glasses are not eligible for the General Duty branch. Medically unfit candidates can appeal at a designated military hospital within 14 days of the Stage II medical, and the appeal result is final. Height relaxation is given only on producing a domicile certificate.

  • Recent colour passport-size photograph (not older than three months from the opening date)
  • Live photograph captured during registration, which must match the uploaded photo
  • Scanned signature
  • Date of birth proof (Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate)
  • Identity proof: Aadhaar card (first option if you have one), PAN card, Voter ID, Driving Licence or Passport
  • Domicile certificate (compulsory for Navik GD male; for others only if claiming height relaxation)
  • Service certificate or NOC, if you are serving ICG personnel or civilian staff

Upload after being shortlisted for Stage II

  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) and NOC from the employer, if employed
  • Navik (DB): Class 10 marksheet and certificate
  • Navik (GD): Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates
  • Yantrik: Class 10 documents, Class 12 documents (if completed), all diploma marksheets and the diploma passing certificate
  • Hygienist-I: Class 8 marksheet, Class 10 marksheet and certificate (if completed), ITI certificate and marksheet

All documents must be issued on or before the closing date and remain valid until at least December 31, 2027. The OBC certificate must be in the Central Government format with a QR or bar code, and the address on the category certificate must match the current or permanent address in your application. Upload only clear scans of original documents, with all pages merged into one file.

  • Original identity proof uploaded in the application
  • One printout of the e-admit card (black and white is fine if the photo and QR code are clear)
  • Two passport-size colour photographs, the same as uploaded

  1. Go to the official SSC portal, ssc.gov.in, and register with a valid email ID and mobile number.
  2. Log in and open the Indian Coast Guard CGEPT 01/2027 & 02/2027 application.
  3. Choose one post and fill in personal, educational and category details, including the marks of every subject.
  4. Upload the photograph, signature and documents, and complete the live photo capture.
  5. Give your exam city preferences, with the first choice nearest to your present address.
  6. Pay the fee of Rs. 550 online (SC/ST candidates are exempt).

Important Instructions for ICG CGEPT Candidates

  • Identity checks happen at every stage: live photo, left thumb biometric (right thumb if the left cannot be captured), signature and identification mark. Failing any one leads to cancellation.
  • Remove mehndi or wax from your fingers, as candidates whose fingerprints cannot be captured are not allowed to sit for the exam.
  • Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices and any recording equipment are banned. Anyone caught with them faces cancellation and an FIR.
  • Disclose any arrest, FIR or pending criminal case in the application. Hiding it can cancel your candidature even after enrolment.
  • The date of birth and gender cannot be changed after submission.
  • SC/ST candidates not employed by the Central or State Government get second-class train or bus fare for Stage II if their home is more than 30 km away. The claim must be made during Stage II only.
  • A police verification certificate obtained after the last date of application is needed at Stage III.
  • Candidates cannot marry or keep family with them during training.
  • Any corrigendum will be published only on ssc.gov.in.

ICG CGEPT Preparation Tips

  • Attempt every question: there is no negative marking in Stage I, so leave nothing blank.
  • Focus on Stage I marks, as they alone decide your merit after you qualify Stage II.
  • Start running now. Build up to 1.6 km in well under 6 minutes 30 seconds (8 minutes for women), and practise squats, push-ups and sit-ups back to back.
  • Check your eyesight early, especially for Navik (GD), where glasses are not allowed.
  • Get your domicile, category and educational certificates ready, and make sure they are valid until December 31, 2027.
  • Get your ears cleaned and teeth scaled before the medical examination, as the notification advises.
