SAIL BSP Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026
Any Indian citizen aged 18–28 who passed ITI, Diploma or Degree as a regular candidate between 2022 and 2026 can apply.
Educational Qualification
- Trade Apprentice: ITI pass in the respective trade from a government-recognised institute.
- Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: Diploma in the respective discipline from a government-recognised institute.
- Graduate Apprentice: Degree in the respective discipline from a government-recognised institute or university.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Only candidates who completed the qualifying exam as regular candidates can apply.
- The qualifying exam must have been passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Candidates whose results are not declared by the last date of application are not eligible.
- Candidates who have done or are doing apprenticeship training anywhere, or who have one year of job experience, are not eligible.
Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 18 years and not more than 28 years old as on 31 October 2026. Reservation and age relaxation follow Government of Chhattisgarh guidelines.

SAIL BSP Apprentice Stipend 2026
Graduate Apprentices get Rs. 12,300 a month, Diploma Apprentices Rs. 10,900 and ITI Apprentices Rs. 9,600, or the latest MSDE rates.

For Graduate and Diploma Apprentices, 50% of the stipend is paid by BSP and 50% by BOPT through DBT. Your bank account must therefore be DBT-enabled and KYC-verified.
SAIL BSP Apprentice Selection Process 2026
There is no written exam or interview. Candidates are shortlisted on academic merit during the walk-in:
- 30% weightage to marks in the Class 10 exam.
- 70% weightage to marks in ITI, Diploma or Degree, as applicable.
Marks must be entered in percentage. If your university gives CGPA, convert it to percentage using your board or university’s formula. Final engagement depends on a medical fitness certificate from a government doctor, as required by the Apprentices Act, 1961.

ITI candidates apply on the NAPS portal and Diploma/Degree candidates on the NATS portal, both by 20 October 2026. An application without portal registration will not be accepted.
