Final year students expecting their results by 31st August 2027 can also apply, provided they have at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate up to the pre-final examination. If selected, they must secure at least 60% in the final degree. For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, the qualifying marks are relaxed to pass marks for posts reserved for their category, as per the final notification.
PGCIL CGPA to Percentage Conversion
The percentage must be calculated as per the conversion method of the candidate’s university or institute. If the university has no conversion scheme, the percentage will be calculated as (CGPA ÷ Maximum CGPA) × 100. The date of issue of the final mark sheet will be treated as the date of acquiring the qualification.

PGCIL Engineer Trainee Category Certificate Requirements 2027
- SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate in the Government of India format for “Appointment to posts under Govt. of India”.
- OBC (NCL) candidates must submit a Central format OBC (NCL) certificate based on income for FY 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26, issued on or after 01.04.2026, along with a self-undertaking.
- EWS candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate based on FY 2025-26 income, issued on or after 01.04.2026. The caste name must be clearly mentioned; “General/Samanya” will not be accepted.
- PwBD candidates must submit a medical certificate from a Government Medical Board and a UDID card/certificate.
- Certificates issued in any language other than Hindi or English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Engineer Trainees go through classroom sessions, on-the-job training at project sites and substations, behavioural skill development, management games, expert talks, industrial visits and a structured mentoring programme. Training is anchored at the POWERGRID Academy of Leadership, a 23-acre campus at Manesar, Gurugram, with facilities such as a 400/220 kV GIS substation, the POWERGRID Transmission Experience Centre, the National Transmission Asset Management Centre and the POWERGRID Advanced Research and Technology Centre.
