The National Internship in Official Statistics (NIOS) is an initiative by MoSPI aimed at giving students practical exposure to how India collects, processes, and uses official data. For Phase II of the 2026-27 cycle, MoSPI plans to engage 240 interns across its offices nationwide.

The internship is divided into two groups based on location:
- Group A: Offices located in Delhi
- Group B: Offices located in the rest of the country
Who Can Apply for MoSPI National Internship in Official Statistics (NIOS) 2026-27?
You are eligible for the MoSPI internship if you fall into any of these categories:
- Undergraduate students (who have completed or appeared for their 2nd year exams) with at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics in their curriculum, and who secured at least 75% in Class 12.
- Postgraduate or research students with at least 70% marks in graduation.
- Recent graduates/postgraduates (within the last 2 years) who studied at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics and secured at least 70% marks.
Internship Duration
The MoSPI internship duration ranges from 2 months to 6 months, depending on the specific role and office assignment.
Stipend Details
Selected interns will receive:
- ₹10,000 per month as the base stipend
- An additional ₹500 per day for field visits (applicable to Group B interns)
