JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has officially released its recruitment notification for the posts of Assistant Professor, College Director of Physical Education & Sports and Librarians, across different disciplines, with 205 vacancies on offer, vide Notification No. 05-PSC(DR-P) OF 2026. The notification has been put out by the Commission’s office at Solina, Srinagar. The JKPSC Recruitment 2026 Notification has been released on 31 July 2026. Online applications open on 1st August 2026, and the last date to apply online is 31st August 2026.

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission invites online applications from domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, possessing the prescribed academic/professional qualification and age, for the posts of Assistant Professor, College Director of Physical Education & Sports and Librarians in Government Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department.

This recruitment drive is being conducted in terms of the J&K Education (Gazetted) College Service Recruitment Rules, 2026, notified vide SO-125 of 2026 dated 29.04.2026, and the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (Business and Procedure) Rules, 2021, as amended up to date. Assistant Professor Age Limit, Vacancy Details, and Qualification

Age Limit: The age limit for this JKPSC recruitment varies by category, and is reckoned as on 1st January 2026.

Qualification:

• Assistant Professor: Master’s Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/differently abled categories or Ph.D holders who obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject, along with a qualifying NET/SLET/SET, OR a Ph.D degree awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016 subject to prescribed exemption conditions, OR a Ph.D obtained from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings (QS/THE/ARWU). (Candidates for Music/Computer Application disciplines have additional alternative routes as detailed in the notification.)
• Librarian: Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science or Documentation Science (or equivalent professional degree) with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/differently-abled/Ph.D holders as above), a consistently good academic record and knowledge of computerization of a library, along with a qualifying NET/SLET/SET or an eligible Ph.D as per UGC norms.
• College Director of Physical Education & Sports: Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports/Physical Education or Sports Science with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/differently-abled categories), a record of having represented the University/College at inter-university/inter-collegiate/state/national championships, along with a qualifying NET/SLET/SET or an eligible Ph.D as per UGC norms, and having passed the physical fitness test conducted per UGC Regulations 2018 — OR an Asian Games/Commonwealth Games medal winner holding at least a postgraduate degree.

JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process for the post of Assistant Professor shall be made in terms of Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, as amended up to date, and includes:

• Written Examination: A single paper of 3 hours duration carrying 120 multiple choice questions (syllabus available on the Commission’s website). The syllabus for the post of College Director of Physical Education and Sports shall be notified separately.
• Examination Centres: Srinagar and Jammu (candidates must indicate their preferred centre; allotment is at the sole discretion of the Commission).
• Document Verification: Based on the mandatory documents uploaded with the application.

Admit cards will be made available for download about two weeks before the examination date on the official website, jkpsc.nic.in. Candidates must carry a printout of the admit card along with two recent passport-size color photographs (not taken earlier than 01.01.2026) and an original valid photo ID (Aadhar/Voter ID/Driving License/PAN/Passport/Institution ID/Employer ID) to the examination hall.

1. Visit the official website jkpsc.nic.in and complete/update your One Time Registration (OTR) before filling the application form.
2. Log in to your account and fill all requisite OTR fields — personal information, contact details, and educational qualifications.
3. Upload a date-stamped recent passport-size color photograph and signature, each between 10kB and 20kB in JPEG/JPG format.
4. Click on “Show Examination,” select the month of the advertisement notification, and click “Apply” against the relevant post you are eligible for.
