FSSAI Internship Eligibility Criteria 2026
The FSSAI internship is open only to students currently pursuing a full-time Graduate, Post Graduate or higher degree from a recognised institute in India or abroad, in any of these fields:
Science and Technology: Post Graduate Degree/B.Tech/BE in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Edible Oil Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural or Horticultural Sciences, Industrial Microbiology, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Science, Biotechnology, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, or Food Safety & Quality Assurance.
Management and Allied Fields: Business Administration & Management, including policy regulation, Finance, Taxation Law, Marketing, Psychology, Human Resource, Economics, Statistics, Information and Communication Technology, Entrepreneurship and related fields.
Media: PG Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication and Public Relations.
Computer Science: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related streams. Only 3rd and 4th year students can apply; 1st and 2nd year students are not eligible.
Public Policy: Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Policy or Public Administration (only for FSSAI HQ).
Law: Bachelor’s or Master’s of Law.
Commerce: Bachelor of Commerce and equivalent courses.

Important Eligibility Notes
Students who have already completed their course should not apply. Multiple applications will not be entertained. Candidates must choose a location that offers their subject area. For example, FSSAI laboratories accept only technically qualified candidates.
FSSAI Internship Duration
The internship runs on a quarterly basis throughout the year. It is offered for a minimum of 2 months, which can be extended up to a maximum of 6 months. No internship shorter than 2 months will be offered.

FSSAI Internship Stipend 2026
A stipend of ₹10,000 is paid to deserving interns for the entire internship period (not per month), on the recommendation of their office or division. Deserving interns are identified based on:
- Attendance
- Assessment by their reporting officers
- Evaluation of their reports by Divisional Heads at FSSAI HQ or Directors at Regional Offices and NFLs
FSSAI Internship Certificate
Every intern who successfully completes the programme, which includes submitting a final report or presentation and having it reviewed, will receive an official FSSAI internship certificate from the Divisional Head (HQ) or Director (ROs/NFLs).
Work Assignments
Interns are attached to a division at FSSAI HQ, a Regional Office or a lab, based on their academic and technical background. They work on projects related to different aspects of food and nutrition management processes.
Working Space and Facilities
Interns must bring their own laptops. FSSAI provides working space, internet and other basic facilities, but it does not provide local lodging, travel or boarding. Candidates from outside the city should plan their stay in advance.
FSSAI Internship Selection Process
All applications are scrutinised by Nodal Officers nominated for the internship. Applicants may be asked to submit a short write-up or presentation on the application portal for final selection. The final list of selected candidates, along with the joining date and internship tenure, will be published on the FSSAI website.
Students who applied for a previous quarter but were not selected must apply again for the next quarter.
How to Apply Online for FSSAI Internship 2026
- Visit www.fssai.gov.in/internship and download the guidelines.
- Click “Apply Online” in the header menu.
- Choose your place of internship and department.
- Fill in personal details: name, parent’s name, date of birth, gender, nationality, mailing address, state, PIN code, email and mobile number.
- Enter your current course, university/institute and course duration in months.
- Fill in your educational qualifications from 10th onwards. The first two rows are mandatory.
- Complete the write-ups (maximum 500 characters each): major projects undertaken, your area of interest and why, and why you want to join FSSAI.
- Select the month of commencement of your internship.
- Upload your photograph (JPG/PNG, maximum 500 KB) and resume (PDF, maximum 2 MB).
- Accept the undertaking, enter the place of submission and click Submit.
Save and edit feature: You can save the form at any point by entering your name and email. You will receive a unique Application Code on screen and by email. Use this code and your email to log in later, edit your form and submit it. After the final submission, no edits are allowed; you can only view and print the form.

Your write-ups carry real weight, so use the 500 characters wisely. Mention specific projects, lab work, research or policy topics that link to food safety. Choose a department that matches your subject, since lab internships require a technical background. Keep your resume short and clear, and apply early instead of waiting for 1 October.
Documents Required at the Time of Joining
Selected interns must bring a letter from their institute confirming student status, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the internship period, a character certificate from the institute, and proof of educational qualifications mentioned in the application form. Requests to extend the joining date by more than one week will not be accepted.
