SLPRB AP Police Recruitment 2026
The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Andhra Pradesh, Mangalagiri, has issued a set of recruitment notifications covering uniformed and technical posts in the Police Department, the State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, the Prisons and Correctional Services Department and the Forensic Science Laboratory. The recruitment has been sanctioned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide G.O.Ms. No. 81 Finance (HR-I Plg. & Policy) Department dated 22.08.2026, with a further amendment issued through Government Memo dated 11.09.2026.
This is one of the largest police recruitment drives in the state in recent years, with openings ranging from Intermediate-level constable posts right up to M.Sc.-level Scientific Assistant posts in the Forensic Science Laboratory. Importantly, SLPRB has clarified that the number of vacancies indicated is only provisional and is liable to change without any notice.
AP Police Notification 2026 – Application Dates Not Yet Announced
Candidates should note one crucial point: the notifications released on 16th September 2026 do not contain the online application start and end dates. SLPRB has stated that the exact dates for submission of the Online Application Form and the Preliminary Written Test will be notified separately through a press release and published on the official website shortly.
Until then, candidates are advised to keep the required documents ready — passport size photograph, signature, SSC certificate, community certificate (for BC/SC/ST candidates), and EWS or Non-Creamy Layer certificate where applicable — since all of these must be uploaded at the time of submitting the application form. Both the Non-Creamy Layer certificate and the EWS certificate must have been issued on or after 01.04.2026 to be valid for this recruitment.

AP Police Selection Process 2026
The selection scheme differs by post group. Candidates applying for more than one post within the same notification need to submit only one application form.
SI (Civil), RSI (AR), SI (SPF) and PC (Civil), PC (AR), Firemen, Warders
- Preliminary Written Test — two objective papers of 100 marks each (Arithmetic & Reasoning at SSC standard; General Studies at Degree standard). Marks are not counted for final selection.
- Physical Measurements Test (PMT) — minimum height of 167.6 cm for men and 152.5 cm for women, with relaxed standards for Aboriginal Scheduled Tribe candidates from notified agency areas.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 1600 m run, 100 m run and long jump. Qualifying in nature for SI (Civil) and PC (Civil); carries 100 marks for AR and SPF posts.
- Final Written Examination — four papers of three hours each. Paper I (English) and Paper II (Telugu/Urdu) are qualifying only; Papers III and IV count towards the merit list.
SI (Communications) and SI (PTO)
There is no Preliminary Written Test for these technical posts. Candidates go directly to certificate verification and PMT, followed by a qualifying 1600 m run, and then a written examination in three papers — English (100 marks, qualifying), Arithmetic & Reasoning (100 marks) and a Technical Paper (200 marks). Final merit is based on Papers II and III totalling 300 marks.
PC (Communications)
No preliminary test. Selection is through PMT, a qualifying 1600 m run, and a single objective Technical Paper of 200 marks that decides the final merit.
SCT Constables (Mechanics and Drivers)
No preliminary test. After PMT and the qualifying 1600 m run, Mechanics candidates must clear a Trade Test and Drivers candidates a Driving Test, each carrying 100 marks with a minimum of 50 marks required. Both tests are qualifying only. Final selection is based on a 200-mark objective Technical Paper.
Scientific Assistant (FSL)
There is no physical test or preliminary test for these posts. Selection is through a single objective written examination of 120 questions for 120 marks (two hours, English only), followed by certificate verification.
Minimum qualifying marks across all written examinations are 40% for OC (including EWS), 35% for BCs and 30% for SC/ST candidates.
