Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has released Advertisement No. 7(1)/I/STPI-HQ/2026-27 for the engagement of Apprentice Trainees for a period of one year. STPI currently operates 73 centres across the country, and the present recruitment covers 15 apprentice positions at 10 of these locations. The vacancies are common to both the engineering and non-engineering streams; the notification does not split the 15 posts discipline-wise.

Which STPI Apprentice Stream Should You Apply For?

Your eligible stream depends entirely on the degree you hold. The engineering stream carries a higher base stipend, but both streams are shortlisted through the same interview process.

Who Can Apply for STPI Apprentice Recruitment 2026?

Only candidates who satisfy the educational qualification, age and pass-out year conditions are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification

Technical discipline: Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics, Electricals, Electronics & Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science or Information Technology.

Non-technical discipline: Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, Administration or similar disciplines.

Only candidates with a completed degree or diploma are eligible. Candidates in the final year or awaiting results are not eligible.

Pass-Out Year Condition

This is the condition most likely to filter out applicants. Only those candidates who completed their qualification in June 2021 or thereafter will be considered for engagement as an Apprentice Trainee. Candidates who graduated before June 2021 are not eligible, irrespective of age.

Prior Apprenticeship Restriction

Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship in the past — whether at STPI or at any other organisation — shall not be considered. The apprenticeship is intended as a first-time training opportunity only.

NATS Registration Is Mandatory Before Applying

It is compulsory for candidates to register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) Portal before applying through STPI’s portal. The NATS Enrolment ID generated after registration must be entered in the STPI online application module. Without it, the application cannot be completed.

Steps to register on NATS:

  1. Visit the portal — Go to https://nats.education.gov.in and click on the “Student” section in the top menu bar.
  2. Enroll as a student — Click “Enroll” under the Student section, read the eligibility criteria, click “Yes” if you meet them, and proceed to the Enrollment Form.
  3. Fill in personal information — Provide your name, date of birth, gender, email and mobile number. Create a login ID and password, and enter your Aadhaar number and other identification details.
  4. Fill in educational details — Select your highest qualification (Diploma, Graduate, etc.), and enter the institution name, year of passing and percentage/CGPA.
  5. Fill in communication and bank details — Provide your present and permanent address, along with bank account number, IFSC code and bank name for stipend processing.
  6. Review and submit — Check all details carefully and submit the form. A unique student enrolment ID will be generated and sent to your registered email ID.

There is no computer-based test for this recruitment. Depending upon the vacancies available in various disciplines, selection will be carried out by shortlisting based on the candidate’s performance in the interview, conducted by a Screening-cum-Selection Committee.

The Screening-cum-Selection Committee may offer a higher stipend, up to Rs. 20,000/- per month, based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.

The stipend will be facilitated through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. The admissible Government share of the stipend will be credited directly to the apprentice’s bank account through the NATS portal, after successful registration on NATS for DBT. Candidates should therefore ensure their bank details on NATS are accurate and their account is active.
