UPSSSC JE Recruitment 2026, 1536 Mechanical & Electrical Junior engineer Vacancy
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow, has released two notifications for the UPSSSC JE Recruitment 2026 on 12 October 2026. A total of 1536 vacancies have been announced: 1156 posts through the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination under Advt. No. 24-Exam/2026, and 380 posts through the Combined Junior Engineer (Electrical) Main Examination under Advt. No. 25-Exam/2026.
Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025) and received a scorecard can apply. Diploma holders in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering can apply for the Mechanical posts from 3 to 25 November 2026, and Electrical Engineering diploma holders can apply for the Electrical posts from 6 to 27 November 2026. - PET-2025 is compulsory for both notifications. Candidates with a zero or negative score in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted.
- The essential qualification must be held by the last date of application (25 November 2026 for Mechanical, 27 November 2026 for Electrical).

- Employees already working in UPSRTC (Mechanic, Assistant Storekeeper, Electrician) or regular employees of UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam get 5 years extra.
- Employees working in UP State Government services get up to 5 years relaxation in the maximum age.
- Reservation and age relaxation are only for domiciles of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates from other states are treated as Unreserved.

- The same fee applies to both notifications. Apply and pay separately for Mechanical and Electrical if you are eligible for both.
- Dependents of Freedom Fighters, Ex-Servicemen, Women, Divyang and Outstanding Sportspersons pay as per their original category.
- Pay through Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI or SBI e-Challan.
- Candidates shortlisted for the main exam must pay a separate exam fee before downloading the admit card.
UPSSSC JE Selection Process
- Shortlisting: candidates are shortlisted on their PET-2025 normalized score, 15 times the number of vacancies, category-wise. All candidates with a score equal to the cut-off (up to 2 decimal places) are included.
- Written Exam: the selection is based on the written exam.
- Document Verification: candidates give their post preference at this stage. Posts are allotted on the basis of merit, preference, availability, qualification and age limit.
If the written exam is held in more than one shift, scores will be normalized.
UPSSSC JE Exam Pattern 2026
Both exams have one paper of 100 objective questions (1 mark each) in 2 hours, with 1/4 negative marking for each wrong answer. Part 2 (Computer & IT, 15 marks) and Part 3 (UP GK, 20 marks) are the same for both. Only Part 1 (65 marks) is different.

How to Apply for UPSSSC JE Recruitment 2026
- Go to upsssc.gov.in and open Advt. No. 24-Exam/2026 (Mechanical) or 25-Exam/2026 (Electrical) under the Live Advertisement Segment.
- Log in with your PET-2025 Registration Number, using the OTP sent to the mobile number / email registered in PET-2025.
- Your personal details, photo and signature from PET-2025 will appear automatically. They cannot be changed here.
- Select the posts you want to apply for. You will not be considered for posts you do not select.
- Choose Yes/No for each educational qualification and enter board/university, year of passing, certificate/roll number, date of issue and marks.
- Choose Yes/No for preferential qualifications (if any), read the declaration, tick all boxes and click Save and Submit.
- Pay Rs. 25 by Credit/Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI or SBI e-Challan before the last date.
- After successful payment, the form is submitted automatically. Download and print the application form.
- Only one application per advertisement is accepted. If you submit more than one, only the last one counts.
- If the fee is paid but the form does not appear, use "Update Your Transaction ID by Double Verification" under the Applicant Segment.
- EWS candidates need an EWS certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and the last date of application, based on income of FY 2025-26.

UPSSSC JE Correction in Application
- Corrections can be made till 2 December 2026 (Mechanical) and 4 December 2026 (Electrical), by logging in to the Applicant's Dashboard and clicking Modify Application, with an OTP.
- Only these details can be changed: correspondence address; EWS and horizontal reservation category (DFF, Divyang, Ex-Servicemen, Gender, Outstanding Sportsperson); essential/preferential qualification details; marital status.
- No correction is possible after the correction deadline.
Important Instructions
- Candidates who are not domiciles of Uttar Pradesh do not get reservation and are treated as Unreserved.
- For women candidates of UP, only a caste certificate issued from the father's side is valid.
- Ex-Servicemen who retire by the last date of application can claim reservation.
- Date of birth as recorded in the High School certificate will be accepted.
- Candidates working in Central or State Government service must get an NOC from their employer.
- The exams are governed by the UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
- The Commission does not send personal letters. All updates are posted on upsssc.gov.in.

Q3. Can I apply without PET 2025?
No. Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and got a scorecard can apply.
Q4. What is the qualification for UPSSSC JE?
A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering for Mechanical posts, or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering for Electrical posts. PWD JE also requires High School, and the UPSRTC Electrician post needs an Electrical Supervisory Licence.
Q5. Can I apply for both Mechanical and Electrical?
Yes, if you meet the qualification for both. Each advertisement needs a separate application and fee.
Q6. What is the application fee?
Only Rs. 25 (online processing fee) for all categories.
Q7. What is the age limit?
18 to 40 years for most posts, and 21 to 40 years for a few posts, as on 1 July 2026, with relaxation as per UP Government rules.
Q8. Is there negative marking in the UPSSSC JE exam?
Yes. 1/4 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
