SMC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee
The SMC application fee 2026 must be paid online by debit card, credit card or net banking. Cash, demand draft, postal order and pay order are not accepted. The fee is not refundable. The category-wise fee is given below.

SMC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The notice does not fix a single exam pattern for the Surat Municipal Corporation recruitment. Depending on the number of applications, candidates may be called for:
- Written test
- Practical test
- Oral interview
- Document verification
For posts 1 to 3 (Director I.T., Radiologist, Pathologist), the selection committee, and for posts 4 to 9, the appointing authority, will decide the criteria based on the basic qualification and/or experience. Call letters will be published on the SMC website, and candidates will be informed by SMS on their registered mobile number. If two candidates get equal marks, the older candidate gets priority. No travel allowance is paid for attending any test.
SMC Reservation Rules (Important for West Bengal Candidates)
This is the most important point for candidates from West Bengal and other states:
- Reservation for SC, ST, SEBC and EWS is only for original residents of Gujarat. Candidates from other states can apply only against Unreserved posts, and the Unreserved rules will apply to them.
- SEBC candidates must have a Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 01.04.2024 in the Gujarati format (Annexure-4). The English Annexure-A is not accepted.
- EWS candidates need the Gujarat government EWS certificate (Annexure-G, Gujarati format) issued on or before the last date.
- Knowledge of Gujarati and/or Hindi is a condition for most posts, so check this before applying.
