Which Post Should You Prefer?

  • Commercial cum Ticket Clerk: highest UG pay and the most seats. Counter work (tickets, reservations, cash handling), often in rotating shifts.
  • Accounts Clerk cum Typist: office work on bills, pay and accounts, with regular hours. One pay level lower than CC/TC.
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist: similar to ACCT but in general administration. Very few seats.
  • Trains Clerk: fewest seats. Record-keeping at stations and goods yards, usually in shifts.

Your post preference is locked when you apply. If you can't type 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi, and won't practise daily, don't rely on the typist posts.

RRB NTPC Undergraduate Syllabus 2026 Preparation Plan

  • Maths: Go beyond basic arithmetic. Give separate time to LCM & HCF, Number System and basic Trigonometry.
  • Reasoning: Practise puzzles and seating arrangement with a timer, until you can solve a 5-question set in under 4 minutes.
  • General Awareness: Cover 8–12 months of current affairs, NCERT Science for Classes 6–10, and basic computers (shortcut keys, devices, file types).
  • Target: Cut-offs crossed 82–86 in many RRBs in 2026, so aim for 88+ out of 100 in mock tests.
  • CBT 2 from day one: Once your basics are strong, practise 120-question, 90-minute mocks.

Tip: Common mistakes are starting CBT 2 preparation only after the CBT 1 result, guessing blindly (three wrong answers cancel one right answer), leaving typing practice too late, and filling in the post preference without thinking.
