APPSC AEE Syllabus 2026: Paper II

Common Subject (300 marks): Paper II carries double the marks of Paper I and has ten units.

1. Ecosystems

Definition, scope and importance; classification, structure and function; food chains, food webs, ecological pyramids, energy flow and biogeochemical cycles; bioaccumulation, biomagnification, ecosystem services and carrying capacity.

2. Natural Resources

Living and non-living resources; use and overuse of surface water and groundwater; floods, droughts and dams; mineral resources and the effects of mining; land and forest resources; energy resources, renewable and non-renewable sources, and alternate energy.

3. Biodiversity and Biotic Resources

APPSC AEE Syllabus 2026 Preparation Strategy

  1. Prioritise Paper II. Spend about 60–65% of your time on it, starting with Units 7 to 10 (pollution control, waste, laws and EIA).
  2. Solve numericals. Fluid Mechanics, Process Calculations and Thermodynamics need regular problem practice.
  3. Keep an environmental law notebook. Note the year, key sections and purpose of each Act and protocol.
  4. Use the overlap. Sustainable development and disaster management help in both papers.
  5. Study Andhra Pradesh topics. Cover AP schemes, economy, history and geography for Paper I.
  6. Take CBRT mocks. You have about a minute per question in each paper.
  7. Don't guess blindly. A wrong answer in Paper II costs 0.67 marks.
  8. Practise for the CPT. Spend 20–30 minutes a day on typing and on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Useful books: Environmental Engineering (Peavy, Rowe & Tchobanoglous), Textbook of Environmental Studies (Erach Bharucha), Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines (R.K. Bansal), Basic Principles and Calculations in Chemical Engineering (Himmelblau), Introduction to Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics (Smith, Van Ness & Abbott), Materials Science and Engineering (Callister), Indian Polity (M. Laxmikanth).

Tip: Applications close at 11:59 PM on 27 October 2026. Apply early, and read the detailed notification on psc.ap.gov.in for eligibility and fees before you apply.
