To be eligible as a Technical Trainee, candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in any of the following disciplines — Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Biomedical Engineering, Water Resources, Remote Sensing, GIS, Hydrology, or an equivalent qualification.

Preference for GATE/NET Qualified Candidates

DPCC has clearly stated that candidates holding a qualifying score in GATE or NET examinations from the years 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 will be given preference during the selection process. This makes it highly beneficial for engineering graduates and science postgraduates who have appeared in GATE or NET to apply with their valid scores.

In cases where multiple candidates have the same GATE/NET score or percentile, the candidate with the higher percentage in the qualifying examination will be ranked higher in the merit list.

Delhi DPCC Trainee Stipend Structure

Selected trainees will receive a monthly stipend that increases progressively over the three-year engagement period. In the first year, the monthly stipend is Rs. 25,000/-. In the second year, it rises to Rs. 26,500/- per month. In the third year, the stipend increases further to Rs. 28,000/- per month.

This structured and incrementally growing stipend makes the engagement financially rewarding for young professionals at the beginning of their careers in environmental science and engineering.

Duration and Terms of Engagement

Trainees will initially be engaged for a period of six months. After a mandatory break of one day, their tenure can be extended in further spells of six months each, up to a maximum total period of three years, subject to satisfactory performance in each spell.

Candidates who have previously served as Trainees with DPCC are not eligible to apply for re-engagement under this notification. Additionally, trainees cannot claim any regular or permanent employment on the basis of this contractual engagement.

Delhi DPCC Trainee Selection Process

The merit list for DPCC Trainee Recruitment 2026 will be prepared in the following manner. In the first priority, candidates will be ranked on the basis of their GATE/NET scores obtained in the year 2023 or later. If sufficient candidates are not available through this merit list, a second merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination passed in the year 2023 or later.

The final merit list will place GATE/NET qualified candidates first, followed by candidates ranked purely on qualifying examination marks. A panel of waitlisted candidates will also be prepared for filling vacancies that arise in respective categories. This waitlist panel will remain valid for one year from the date of declaration of the final result published on the DPCC website.
