GSSSB Food Safety Officer Eligibility 2026
The GSSSB Food Safety Officer eligibility is as per the recruitment rules of the Health and Family Welfare Department. Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:
- Master's degree in Chemistry from a recognised university; or
- Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agriculture Science, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology or Medicine from a recognised university.
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degrees in disciplines covered under "Food Technology" (such as Food Engineering, Food Processing Technology, Food Safety and Quality Management) and "Agricultural Science" (such as Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Horticulture, Food Nutrition and Dietetics) are also accepted, as per the Union Health Ministry notification dated 21.09.2023.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications as per Gujarat rules.
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
A person with any financial interest in the manufacture, import or sale of food cannot be appointed as Food Safety Officer.

GSSSB Food Safety Officer Salary
Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed pay of ₹40,800 per month for the first five years. After satisfactory service of five years, they will be eligible for regular appointment in the 7th CPC pay scale of ₹29,200 – 92,300 (Level 5), subject to the Supreme Court's decision in SLP No. 14124/2012 and 14125/2012.
