GSET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have completed, or be in the final year of, a UGC-recognised Master's degree in a subject covered under GSET.
Minimum Marks Required:
- General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates: at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's degree.
- SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates: at least 50% marks (without rounding off).
- Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level exam was completed by 19th September 1991 get a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
Age Limit:
There is no upper age limit for GSET eligibility for Assistant Professor.
Candidates Pursuing Master's Degree: Candidates in the final year of their Master's degree, or awaiting results, may also apply provisionally. Such candidates must complete their Master's degree with the required percentage within two years of the GSET result declaration, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
Not Eligible: Candidates studying in the first year of a two-year Master's course, the first two semesters of a four-semester Master's course, or the fourth year of a five-year Integrated Master's course are not eligible to appear.
Re-appearance Restriction: A candidate who has already qualified GSET in a subject will not be allowed to appear again for GSET in the same subject.

The application process for GSET 2026 involves two mandatory steps, both of which must be completed to submit a valid application.
Step 1 - Pay Examination Fee Visit the official website www.gujaratset.ac.in and pay the requisite examination fee, processing charges, and applicable GST online via Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card. Print the fee receipt and note down the Order Number and Payment Reference ID (Easepay ID) generated after successful payment.
Step 2 - Register Online for GSET Examination Keep a recent scanned passport-size photograph (JPEG format, under 100 KB) ready before applying. Log in to your account on www.gujaratset.ac.in using the Order Number and Payment Reference ID. Click on "Step 2 - Register Online for GSET" and fill in the online application form carefully, including name, subject, centre, category, disability category (if applicable), and photograph. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference. No corrections are allowed once the form is submitted.
GSET 2026 Selection Process Eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the candidate's performance in both papers of GSET, taken in aggregate.
Minimum Qualifying Marks: General (Unreserved)/General-EWS candidates need at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined; reserved category candidates (SC, ST, SEBC-NCL, PwD, Third Gender) need at least 35% aggregate marks.
Qualifying Slots: The number of candidates to be declared qualified is equal to 6% of the candidates who appear in both papers, allocated category-wise as per the Gujarat State reservation policy, and further apportioned subject-wise.
There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of GSET results.
GSET 2026 Exam Pattern
Candidates planning to appear for GSET 2026 must be aware of the exam pattern, syllabus, and marking scheme detailed below.
- The exam consists of two papers, both objective type (MCQ), held on the same day.
- Each question carries 2 marks.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- It is compulsory to appear in both papers; a candidate who does not appear in Paper I cannot appear in Paper II.

GSET 2026 Provisions for Persons with Disabilities
- PwD candidates must accurately indicate their disability category in the application form and OMR sheet, matching their valid disability certificate.
- Only candidates with 40% or more disability are eligible for reservation benefits.
- Blind and low-vision candidates will be provided a scribe (graduate in a subject other than the candidate's own); there is no Braille question booklet provision.
- All PwD candidates get compensatory time of 20 minutes for Paper I and 40 minutes for Paper II.

GSET 2026 Certificate Validity
The Gujarat SET Office will issue only e-certificates to qualifying candidates; no printed/hard copy will be issued. A QR code on the e-certificate (for GSET 2017 onwards) can be used to verify authenticity. No mark sheets will be issued to any qualified/not-qualified candidate, though marks of all candidates will be uploaded on the website after the result.
