UGC NET June 2026 – Exam Pattern

UGC NET is conducted in two papers, both held on the same day in a single session:

Paper I is common for all candidates regardless of their subject. It consists of 50 questions worth 100 marks and tests Teaching and Research Aptitude, Reasoning, Comprehension, General Awareness, and Communication skills.

Paper II is subject-specific, consisting of 100 questions worth 200 marks. It tests in-depth knowledge of the candidate's chosen subject.

There is no negative marking in UGC NET. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours (180 minutes), and both papers are conducted together without any break.
