Post 1 – Station Officer (Sub Inspector / Upa Nirikshak)
Total Vacancies: 21
This is the highest-ranking post in this recruitment. The Station Officer, also referred to as Sub Inspector or Upa Nirikshak, is a supervisory position responsible for managing fire station operations, leading emergency response teams, and coordinating disaster management activities.
Vacancy Breakdown: General (Unreserved) – 9, SC – 2, ST – 7, OBC – 3, with sub-reservations for women and ex-servicemen within these categories.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a B.Sc. or B.E. degree in Fire Engineering from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification.
Physical Standards for Male Candidates: Height must be at least 168 cm. Chest without expansion must be 81 cm and with expansion 86 cm. The minimum difference between expanded and unexpanded chest must be 5 cm.
Physical Standards for Female Candidates: Height must be at least 153 cm. Female candidates are exempted from the chest measurement requirement.
Selection Process: The selection for this post is based on Physical Fitness Test carrying 300 marks, Written Examination carrying 100 marks, and Bonus Marks up to 10 marks. Candidates must score at least 30 percent marks in the physical fitness test to qualify.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 7 (as per Chhattisgarh pay matrix).
Post 2 – Vahana Chalak (Vehicle Driver)
Total Vacancies: 14
The Vehicle Driver post is responsible for driving fire tenders, emergency response vehicles, and other departmental vehicles to incident sites. This is a critical operational post as timely arrival at the scene of fire or disaster depends heavily on the driver's skill and knowledge.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 6, SC – 2, ST – 4, OBC – 2, with sub-reservations as applicable.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination (Higher Secondary) or its equivalent old Higher Secondary exam from a recognized board. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving license.
Physical Standards: Same as mentioned above for male and female candidates respectively.
Selection Process: Physical Fitness Test carrying 100 marks, Written Examination carrying 100 marks, and Bonus Marks up to 10 marks. Candidates from general category must score at least 50 marks and SC/ST/OBC candidates must score at least 40 marks in the physical fitness test. Candidates for this post must also appear in a Trade Test.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 4.
Post 3 – Vahana Chalak Cum Operator (Vehicle Driver cum Operator)
Total Vacancies: 86
This is the largest post in terms of vacancy count after the Fireman post. The Vehicle Driver cum Operator is expected to drive departmental vehicles as well as operate various firefighting and emergency equipment. This dual-role position is extremely important in field operations.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 36, SC – 10, ST – 28, OBC – 12, with additional sub-categories for women, ex-servicemen, and others.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent old Higher Secondary exam. In addition, a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving license is mandatory for this post.
Physical Standards: Same physical standards as mentioned for male and female candidates respectively.
Selection Process: Physical Fitness Test of 100 marks, Written Examination of 100 marks, and Bonus Marks up to 10. Minimum qualifying marks in physical fitness test are 50 for general category and 40 for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Trade Test is also mandatory for this post.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 4.
Post 4 – Fireman
Total Vacancies: 117
The Fireman post is the backbone of any fire department and carries the maximum number of vacancies in this recruitment. Firemen are frontline responders who directly participate in firefighting, rescue operations, and disaster relief activities. This is also the post for which CG Vyapam has issued a separate written examination notice under the code NSF26.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 49, SC – 14, ST – 38, OBC – 16, with further sub-reservations for women, ex-servicemen, and persons with disabilities within each category.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination (Higher Secondary) from a recognized board or its equivalent old Higher Secondary examination. No additional technical qualification is required for this post.
Physical Standards for Male Candidates: Height minimum 168 cm. Chest without expansion 81 cm, with expansion 86 cm, minimum difference 5 cm.
Physical Standards for Female Candidates: Height minimum 153 cm. Chest measurement not applicable.
Written Examination Details (NSF26): The written exam will be held on 19 July 2026 at Raipur. The exam will have 100 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each. Total duration is 2 hours (10:00 AM to 12:15 PM). There is no negative marking. Subjects include subject-specific knowledge, general knowledge, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking.
Exam Fee: General category Rs. 350, OBC Rs. 250, SC/ST/Divyang Rs. 200.
Selection Process: Physical Fitness Test of 100 marks, Written Examination of 100 marks, Bonus Marks up to 10. General category minimum qualifying marks in physical fitness test are 50, and SC/ST/OBC candidates require minimum 40 marks.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 4.

Post 5 – Store Keeper
Total Vacancies: 32
The Store Keeper is responsible for maintaining and managing the inventory of firefighting equipment, tools, uniforms, chemicals, and other departmental materials. This is primarily an administrative and logistics role within the fire department.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 13, SC – 4, ST – 10, OBC – 5, with sub-reservations applicable.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board or its equivalent old Higher Secondary examination.
Physical Standards: Same physical standards apply as mentioned above for male and female candidates.

Post 6 – Mechanic
Total Vacancies: 2
The Mechanic post is a technical position responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of fire tenders, water tankers, hydraulic rescue tools, and all other mechanical equipment used by the fire and emergency services department. This role requires both technical knowledge and hands-on mechanical skill.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 1, ST – 1.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent old Higher Secondary exam from a recognized board. Additionally, candidates must hold a Diploma in Diesel Mechanic Trade from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or any other recognized institution.
Physical Standards: Same physical eligibility standards as applicable to other posts.
Selection Process: Physical Fitness Test of 100 marks, Written Examination of 100 marks, and Bonus Marks up to 10. Trade Test is also mandatory for Mechanic candidates.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 4.
Post 7 – Watchroom Operator
Total Vacancies: 19
The Watchroom Operator is responsible for monitoring the fire control room, receiving distress calls from the public, coordinating with field teams, maintaining communication records, and dispatching emergency response vehicles. This is an important communication and coordination post.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 8, SC – 2, ST – 6, OBC – 3.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board or its equivalent old Higher Secondary examination. Additionally, candidates must be trained Nagar Sainiks (Urban Defence personnel) with a minimum of 3 years of service.
Physical Standards: Same as applicable to other posts.
Selection Process: Physical Fitness Test of 100 marks, Written Examination of 100 marks, and Bonus Marks up to 10. This post will be filled only by trained Nagar Sainiks who have completed at least 3 years of service.
Pay Scale: Matrix Level 4.
Post 8 – Wireless Operator
Total Vacancies: 4
The Wireless Operator (Contractual) post is meant for managing wireless communication systems within the department. This is a contractual position and the pay will be on a fixed monthly contract basis rather than on the regular pay matrix.
Vacancy Breakdown: General – 2, ST – 1, OBC – 1.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board or its equivalent old Higher Secondary examination. Additionally, candidates must be trained Wireless Operators who are also Nagar Sainiks.
Physical Standards: Same physical eligibility as applicable to other posts.
Selection Process: Same as other posts involving Physical Fitness Test, Written Examination, and Bonus Marks.
Pay Scale: Fixed monthly contractual salary (Ekmust Maasik Sanvida Vetan).
CG Vyapam NSF26 Age Limit
As per the original advertisement, candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age as on 1 January 2025. However, the Chhattisgarh government has provided an upper age relaxation of 5 years for all candidates, making the effective upper age limit 33 years for general category candidates.
Additional age relaxation is available in the following cases. SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates get relaxation of up to 5 years. Women candidates who are permanent residents of Chhattisgarh get an additional relaxation of 10 years. Widows, divorcees, and separated women are eligible for relaxation up to 35 years. Government servants of Chhattisgarh (permanent or temporary) can apply up to the age of 38 years. Nagar Sainiks (Urban Defence personnel) who have served for a minimum of 3 years get 8 years of upper age relaxation, but in no case should their age exceed 38 years. Contractual employees of the Chhattisgarh government get relaxation equal to the number of years of contractual service, subject to a maximum age of 38 years. The maximum permissible age under any combination of relaxations cannot exceed 45 years.

CG Vyapam NSF26 Physical Fitness Test
The Physical Fitness Test for Station Officer carries 300 marks total. For all other posts including Fireman, Vehicle Driver, Store Keeper, and others, the Physical Fitness Test carries 100 marks total. The events included in the physical fitness test are as follows.
Long Jump (three attempts) with a maximum of 60 marks. High Jump (three attempts) with a maximum of 60 marks. Shot Put – 16 pounds for men and 8 pounds for women – with a maximum of 60 marks. 100 Metre Race with a maximum of 60 marks. 1500 Metre Race with a maximum of 60 marks.
For the 100-mark physical fitness test (for posts other than Station Officer), the events are 100 Metre Race with maximum 25 marks, Long Jump with maximum 25 marks, Shot Put with maximum 25 marks, and Pull-Ups (Beam Bar) with maximum 25 marks.
Bonus Marks
Every eligible candidate can earn bonus marks of 5 each for the following special qualifications, subject to a maximum of 10 bonus marks total regardless of how many qualifications they possess. The qualifying criteria for bonus marks are holding a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle driving license, being a winner at national-level sports competitions organized by recognized All India Sports Federations, and holding an NCC "C" Certificate.
It is important to note that the Heavy Motor Vehicle driving license bonus is applicable only for posts other than Vehicle Driver and Vehicle Driver cum Operator posts.

- Documents required for upper age relaxation if applicable.
- Caste certificate for reservation benefits.
- Income certificate (for non-creamy layer OBC candidates).
- Documents related to ex-servicemen or Nagar Sainik service if claiming reservation.
- Heavy Vehicle driving license for bonus marks (01), National Sports Certificate (02), and NCC-C Certificate (03) if claiming bonus marks.

Visit the official website https://cghgcd.gov.in for the departmental application. Register and create your profile if you are a new user. Fill in all required details carefully. Upload your photograph and signature in jpg/jpeg format. The photo file size must be between 50 KB and 100 KB. Pay the examination fee online. Submit the form before the deadline and take a printout for your records.
For the NSF26 Written Examination (Fireman post), eligible candidates who have cleared the Physical Fitness Test must separately apply on the CG Vyapam website at https://vyapamcg.cgstate.gov.in before 5 June 2026.
