UP Scholarship 2026-27: Uttar Pradesh’s Social Welfare Department (Samaj Kalyan Vibhag) has released the official timeline for the state’s scholarship scheme for the academic year 2026-27. Registration for Class 9 to 12 students has opened today, August 11, 2026.

This information comes from two official government orders issued by the department on July 20, 2026 — one covering the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Intermediate scholarship (Class 9 to 12), and the other covering the Dashmottar scholarship for students studying beyond Class 12, such as graduation, post-graduation, diploma, or ITI courses. Both schemes are meant for students from the General, SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities.

UP Scholarship 2026-27 Overview

UP Scholarship 2026 for Class 9 to 12 Students

If you are in Class 9, 10, 11, or 12, the following schedule applies to you:

• Renewal students (Class 10 and Class 12, already receiving the scholarship): Registration and hard copy submission run from August 11 to August 25, 2026.
• Fresh students (Class 9 and Class 11, applying for the first time): Online registration runs from August 11 to September 21, 2026.

Before student registration opened, schools were preparing their own data on the portal. School-level “master data” preparation ran from July 22 to August 5, and the District School Inspector’s verification of schools ran from July 23 to August 9. This groundwork did not involve students directly, but had to be completed before the portal could open for student applications.

What Happens After You Apply

Once the form is submitted, the process continues in stages, mostly handled by the school, the district office, and the state’s technical team. Applicants do not need to do anything during most of these stages, but it helps to know what happens after submission:

1. The school checks and forwards eligible applications.
2. The District School Inspector verifies the actual student numbers.
3. NIC (National Informatics Centre), a technical body, screens the data for errors.
4. The district committee locks in the final, verified list.
5. Money is transferred directly to students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

For renewal students, this entire process is expected to finish with money transferred between October 25 and October 31, 2026. For fresh students, the process runs longer since more verification is involved, with money expected to be transferred between January 25 and January 31, 2027.

Dashmottar Students (Above Class 12)

Students studying in a graduation course, post-graduation, diploma, ITI, or similar programme fall under the Dashmottar scholarship, which follows a different timeline from Class 9-12 students:

• Renewal students: Registration and hard copy submission run from September 15 to October 15, 2026.
• Fresh students: Online registration runs from September 15 to October 31, 2026.

Before this window opens, colleges and universities complete their own preparation work. Institutions prepare their master data from July 22 to August 15, and the concerned university or affiliating agency verifies course fees from July 23 to August 30.

For Dashmottar renewal students, money is expected to be transferred between January 16 and January 25, 2027. For fresh students, it is expected between January 27 and January 31, 2027.

UP Scholarship 2026-27 Full Schedule

One Time Registration (OTR) — Mandatory Requirement

One Time Registration (OTR) has been mandatory since Session 2025-26 for applying to any scholarship scheme on the UP Scholarship Portal. An active mobile number and Aadhaar number are mandatory for OTR.

Steps for OTR Registration:

After successful generation of OTR, the OTR Number will be displayed on screen and also sent to the registered mobile number. Only after this can a student apply for the UP scholarship.

OTR is a three-step process:

• A. Mobile Number Authentication
• B. Aadhaar e-KYC
• C. OTR Number Generation

Only one OTR Number is allowed per student.

If more than one OTR is found for a student, that student will be liable for debarment from scholarships.

How to Apply for UP Scholarship 2026-27

1. Visit the official portal at scholarship.up.gov.in.
2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) using an active mobile number and Aadhaar number, if not already registered.
3. Log in using the generated OTR Number and select the relevant scholarship category (Pre-Matric/Post-Matric Intermediate or Dashmottar).
4. Fill in personal, academic, and bank account details, and upload the required documents.
5. Submit the application online within the registration window applicable to your category.
6. Submit a hard copy of the application to your school or institution, wherever required — this step should not be skipped even after applying online.

Important Points to Remember

• Renewal students have a shorter registration window than fresh students — if you already receive the scholarship, don’t wait, as your deadline comes first.
• After submitting the form online, most categories also require submission of a hard copy to the school or institution; don’t skip this step.
• The bank account used must be in the student’s own name and linked to Aadhaar, since the scholarship amount is transferred directly through this route.
