Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer in Paper-I and 1 mark per wrong answer in Paper-II. Paper-I is qualifying in nature; candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II based on normalized Paper-I marks. Final merit is based only on normalized Paper-II marks.

SSC JE Apply Online 2026
The online application process for the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 started on 2 September 2026. Eligible candidates can apply through the official SSC website (ssc.gov.in) or the “mySSC” mobile app. Candidates need to complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) before filling the application form.
The last date to submit the online application is 22 September 2026 (23:00 hrs), and the fee payment window closes on 23 September 2026 (23:00 hrs). A correction window will be available from 28 to 30 September 2026.

- Complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) — note that OTR generated on the old website (ssc.nic.in) is not valid on the new website.
- Log in using your Registration Number and password, and click on “Apply” under the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 section.
- Fill in the application form, selecting your post preference, exam subject and up to three examination centres.
- Capture your live photograph and upload your scanned signature as per specifications.
