Eligibility Criteria 2026

Driver — Qualification & Experience

• Candidate should be at least 10+2 pass, with Punjabi/Hindi as one of the subjects in the matriculation examination.
• Must hold a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence. No presumption of eligibility to drive an LMV will be drawn from any other higher category endorsed on the licence.
• Should not have been convicted of any offence for negligent driving, and must have a minimum of two years’ experience of driving a car.

Frash — Qualification

• Candidates should have knowledge of Hindi and the regional language. No formal educational qualification is otherwise specified for this post.

Age Limit (Both Posts)

• 18 to 35 years as on September 18, 2026 (the last date for online registration).
• Ex-Servicemen category: Upper age limit relaxed by the number of years equal to their defence service, plus 3 years.
• For the Frash post, proof of date of birth is admissible only through the Matriculation Certificate (if matriculate or higher) or the Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths (if qualification is below Matric).

Fees are payable online and are non-refundable; online transaction charges are levied extra. For the Frash post, there is no application fee for dependents of Ex-Servicemen who were disabled or deceased during active operation, subject to submission of proof.

Reservation & Fee Relaxation

• SC/ST/BC reservation and fee relaxation benefits are available only to candidates who hold an SC/ST/BC certificate issued by Punjab, Haryana, or U.T. Chandigarh, and are domiciled/permanent residents of these states/UT. Candidates from other states are considered under the General Category.
• BC category candidates must ensure exclusion under the “Creamy Layer” rule and furnish a declaration (Annexure I) at the time of testimonials checking.
• Ex-Servicemen category benefits (fee and age relaxation) apply only to Ex-Servicemen themselves, not their dependents (except the fee waiver noted above for Frash).

Selection Process 2026

Driver

Selection is made purely on the basis of performance in a Practical Test-cum-Interview. Any suitable shortlisting criteria (if required due to volume of applications) will be notified publicly. Selected candidates will first serve a trial period, paid at daily-wager rates approved by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, and will be considered for appointment only after successful completion of this trial.

Frash

Selection follows a three-stage process:

1. Interview — 50 marks total (25 marks for Suitability to the Job, 25 marks for Etiquette/Manners).
2. Physical Endurance Test (PET) — Qualifying in nature, for candidates equivalent to 4 times the advertised vacancies (category-wise), shortlisted by Interview merit. Consists of:
   • 800m Race
   • Long Jump
   • High Jump
   Age- and gender-based qualifying parameters apply to each event; a candidate who fails any one event is disqualified from the remaining events.
3. Final Merit List — Prepared strictly on Interview merit, from among candidates who qualify the PET.

Steps to Apply

1. Visit www.highcourtchd.gov.in and locate the relevant recruitment link (Driver or Frash).
