Students in Bihar preparing for their board exams or gearing up for engineering and medical entrance tests just got a new academic ally. The state government has rolled out ‘Vidya Sahi’, a round-the-clock interactive learning support initiative spanning 700 model schools across all 38 districts of Bihar, aimed at giving nearly 3 lakh students access to structured academic help whenever they need it.
What Is Vidya Sahi?
Vidya Sahi is essentially a digital support system built around live tutor access and downloadable study material, designed to plug the gap between classroom teaching and the kind of individual academic guidance students often need but don’t always get — especially in government and model schools. Rather than being limited to fixed school hours, the program promises 24×7 availability, meaning students can reach out for help with a doubt or a difficult concept at virtually any time of day.
The initiative currently targets a specific academic band:
- Class 9 and Class 10 students, across all streams
- Class 11 and Class 12 students from the science stream
Within this group, the program is structured to support three distinct academic goals: preparation for the Bihar Board examinations, and preparation for two of the country’s most competitive entrance tests — the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering aspirants and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical aspirants.
How the Program Works
At the core of Vidya Sahi is an interactive learning platform through which students can connect with live tutors for real-time academic support, alongside access to a library of digital study resources tailored to their exam preparation needs. The idea is to make sure that a student’s location or the time of day is no longer a barrier to getting help — whether they’re stuck on a physics numerical late at night or need a quick concept revision before a Bihar Board paper.
By pairing live, human tutor interaction with on-demand digital content, the program is positioned to function as a continuous academic support system rather than a one-time resource dump, giving students the flexibility to learn and seek help on their own schedule.

The Official Announcement
The launch was announced by the Bihar Chief Minister on his official social media handle, describing the program as a way to ensure that students receive quality academic assistance exactly when they need it. According to the announcement, the initiative is meant to guarantee that “wherever the child is, whenever they study,” support from a teacher and answers to their academic questions remain accessible.
The formal announcement came during a review meeting with the state’s Education Department, held at the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium located at Lok Sevak Awas.
Who Stands to Benefit the Most
While the program is being rolled out across all 700 participating model schools, it is expected to particularly benefit students in government and model schools, who often have limited access to private tutoring or coaching resources compared to their peers in private institutions. By extending live academic support directly through the school system, the initiative aims to level the playing field for students preparing for high-stakes exams like JEE and NEET, which have traditionally seen heavy reliance on expensive private coaching.
Broader Push to Strengthen Model Schools
Alongside the Vidya Sahi launch, the Chief Minister also used the review meeting to issue broader directives aimed at improving how the state’s model schools function. He called for:
- More effective and distinctive management of state-run model schools
- Regular review and inspection of the academic system, including teacher availability and student attendance
- Consistent monitoring of teaching and learning quality
Additionally, the CM directed the implementation of a ‘One-Officer-One-Model-School’ system, under which individual officers would be assigned responsibility for specific model schools to ensure that problems are identified and resolved within a fixed timeframe, rather than lingering unaddressed.
