APPSC Forest Beat Officer & Assistant Beat Officer Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Must be a citizen of India (with limited exceptions requiring prior sanction of the State Government).
Age Limit
Minimum 18 years and maximum 30 years.
Age Relaxation
- SC, ST, BC and EWS: 5 years
- SC/ST for certain carried-forward vacancies: 10 years (candidates availing the 10-year relaxation are not eligible for fresh SC/ST vacancies)
- Certain general age concessions under the A.P. State and Subordinate Service Rules do not apply to these Class-A posts.
Educational Qualification
The candidate must have passed the Intermediate Examination or its equivalent. The date of the notification is the crucial date for determining qualification. Claims of equivalence require production of the relevant Government Order within the prescribed time, failing which the application is rejected.
Physical Requirements
(Applicable to both FBO and ABO)
Men:
- Height not less than 163 cm
- Chest not less than 84 cm on full inspiration with expansion of not less than 5 cm
Women:
- Height not less than 150 cm
- Chest not less than 79 cm on full inspiration with expansion of not less than 5 cm
Relaxations:
- Height is relaxable by 5 cm for candidates belonging to Gurkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, NAFA, Naga, Manipuri, Gauhati, Kummoni, Sikkimese, Bhutanese and Scheduled Tribes
- Further limited relaxation is available for Scheduled Tribe candidates in specific circumstances
Eyesight: Normal eyesight is required in addition to the above physical standards.
Certificate: Candidates must obtain a physical measurement certificate issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon.
Walking Test
(Qualifying only; carries no marks)
- Male candidates: 25 km to be completed in 4 hours
- Female candidates: 16 km to be completed in 4 hours
Medical Examination
Candidates must undergo a medical examination conducted by the Medical Board at Rajamahendravaram and produce a health certificate confirming sound hearing, general physical fitness for outdoor work in the Forest Department, and marks of successful vaccination.

Reservations
Vertical reservations apply for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections. Horizontal reservations apply for Women (33⅓%), Ex-Servicemen (2%) and Meritorious Sportspersons (3%). No reservation is provided for Persons with Benchmark Disability for these posts. APPSC FBO Selection Process
Appearance in all papers of the Screening Test (if held), Main Examination, physical tests and CPT is compulsory. Absence in any component leads to disqualification.
The final selection is made from among candidates who have qualified in the Physical Tests (walking test and medical examination) and the Computer Proficiency Test, on the basis of marks secured in the Main written examination, duly observing the roster points and granting applicable NCC bonus marks.
Minimum Aggregate Qualifying Marks
