Online applications are invited for PhD programmes in 23 disciplines, including Computer Science, AI and Data Science, Biotechnology, Management, Law, Medical Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, Economics and Architecture. IP University PhD Admission 2026-27 Winter Overview

GGSIPU is a State University established by the Government of NCT of Delhi. PhD admission is done under the PhD Ordinance 12 (2023) and the PhD Admission Brochure 2026-27, and also on the basis of NET scores as per the UGC circular dated 27 March 2024. The key details are given below.

IPU PhD Winter 2026-27 Disciplines and Test Codes

PhD admission in the winter session is open in 23 disciplines across the University Schools of Study. The schools, disciplines and PET test codes are given below.

VIPS (Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies) is an affiliated college. There is no PhD admission in USLA, CEPS and CEDM in this winter session. Supervisor-wise vacant slots are listed in Annexure-I of the notice. For example, the notice shows 11 slots in Mass Communication, 24 in Architecture & Planning, 6 in Education, 3 in English and 4 in Economics. Check the annexure for your discipline and supervisor.

IP University PhD Admission 2026-27 Eligibility

The common minimum eligibility from the PhD Admission Brochure 2026-27 is given below. Some schools have extra conditions, which are listed in the school-wise section of the brochure.

• Relaxation: 5% marks (55% to 50%) for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / Differently-abled / EWS candidates.
• Employed candidates: Must submit a No Objection Certificate at the interview. Full-time scholars must get leave for at least three years.
• Fellowship: PhD research fellowships are available for eligible full-time scholars (conditions apply).
• USAR has extra criteria over and above the common minimum eligibility.

IPU PhD Admission 2026-27 Selection Process

There are three ways to get admission. The selection modes are given below.

• The PET is qualifying, with a 50% cut-off (45% for SC / ST / OBC / Differently-abled / EWS).
• At the interview, candidates present their research interest before the PhD Admission Committee.
• NET marks for Category 2 and 3 are valid for one year and must be valid on the date of interview.
• Candidates seeking PET exemption must send their documents to the Dean / Director of the school by 5 December 2026.

IPU PhD Entrance Test (PET) Pattern

The PET will be an online (CBT) or OMR-based offline test at designated centres. The pattern is given below.

The subject-wise PET syllabus is in the school-wise section of the PhD Admission Brochure 2026-27. Differently-abled candidates get 40 minutes of compensatory time. Answer key objections cost Rs. 200 per question.

IP University PhD Fee 2026-27

The brochure gives a registration fee of Rs. 2,500 plus taxes / service charges for the PhD application. The final application fee is notified by the Examination Branch on the portal. The PhD programme fee after admission is given below.

Fee refund follows the UGC notification on refund of fees dated 02.11.2018.

Can West Bengal Students Apply for IP University PhD?

Yes. The brochure says PhD admission is done on an All-India basis, so postgraduates from West Bengal universities can apply. Reservation follows the State Reservation Policy notified by the university, so check the brochure before claiming a category. The PET is held at designated centres, and the interview is at the university, so be ready to travel to Delhi. Students from West Bengal can also look at the JBNSTS 2026 talent search exam.

How to Apply for IP University PhD Admission 2026-27 Winter

The application is online only through the Samarth portal. Follow the steps below.

1. Visit ipuadm.samarth.edu.in (the link is also on the Admissions and RDC pages of ipu.ac.in).
2. Register and log in.
3. Choose "Ph.D." as the exam category and select your discipline / test code.
4. Fill in your personal and academic details.
5. Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and the required documents.
6. Pay the application fee online.
7. Submit before 5:30 PM on 25 November 2026 and keep a printout.
8. If you are claiming PET exemption, send your NET / JRF / GATE documents to the Dean of the school by 5 December 2026.

All applicants, including PET-exempted candidates, must apply online and download the admit card, which must be shown at the interview.
