The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the full UGC NET Exam Centre list for the December 2026 exam in the official Information Bulletin. There are 12 exam cities in West Bengal: Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Kalyani, Burdwan (Bardhaman), Durgapur, Asansol, Siliguri, Bankura, Suri, Paschim Medinipur and Purba Medinipur. Tip: North Bengal candidates have only one city (Siliguri) in their area. Since 4 choices are required, choose Siliguri first and then the South Bengal cities you can reach most easily.
UGC NET Exam City Choice Rules (December 2026)
- Candidates must choose any 4 cities from the list in Annexure-III of the bulletin, in order of priority.
- Choice of cities is limited to the State of Permanent Address or the State of Present Address only.
- NTA will try to allot a city in the order of your choice, but a different city can be allotted for administrative or logistic reasons.
- If very few candidates are from a city, NTA may merge one, two or more cities.
- NTA's decision on the allotment of city and centre is final. No request for change will be accepted.
- Once the admit card is issued, the centre, date and shift cannot be changed under any circumstances.
- NTA will try to consider the comfort and convenience of candidates, including PwD/PwBD candidates, while allotting centres.
Example: If your permanent address is in Murshidabad (West Bengal) but you are studying in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and have given that as your present address, you can choose cities from either West Bengal or Odisha.

UGC NET City Intimation Slip and Admit Card 2026
- The advance city intimation slip date will be announced later on ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- The e-Admit Card will be issued provisionally on the NTA website. The exact centre, date and shift will be shown on it.
- Admit cards will not be sent by post, and no duplicate admit card will be issued at the exam centre.
- If you cannot download the admit card, call the NTA helpline 011-40759000 / 69227700 (10 AM to 5 PM) or email ugcnet@nta.ac.in.
Documents to Carry to the UGC NET Exam Centre
- Printout of the Admit Card with the Self Declaration (Undertaking), filled in, on A4 paper.
- One passport size photograph, the same as the one uploaded in the form, to paste on the attendance sheet.
- One original, valid photo ID: College ID, PAN card, Passport, Aadhaar card / e-Aadhaar with photo, or Bank Passbook with photo.
- PwD/PwBD certificate, if claiming relaxation or a scribe.
- Marriage certificate or name change document, if your name has changed.
- A simple ball point pen.
Report at the exam centre 2 hours before the exam starts. Candidates in cultural or customary dress should report earlier for frisking. Low-heel slippers and sandals are allowed; heavy shoes are not.
