No. L&DC/04/2026) for 1,067 apprenticeship training slots at Neyveli and RO-Chennai. There are 700 ITI Trade Apprentice slots and 367 Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentice slots, for one year of training with a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 16,678.
Only candidates from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are eligible to apply. Online applications are open from 21 October 2026 (10:00 AM) to 9 November 2026 (5:00 PM). NLC Apprentice 2026 Eligibility
- Domicile: Candidates hailing from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry only.
- Trade Apprentice: Pass in ITI in the relevant trade from a recognised institute. Year of passing is not applicable.
- Graduate (Non-Engineering): Regular full-time bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a UGC-approved university, passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Age: Minimum 18 years, completed on or before 31 October 2026 (as per Apprentices Act, 1961).
- Candidates who have already done or are doing NAPS / NATS or the PM Internship Scheme at NLC or elsewhere are not eligible.
- Reservation for SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwBD as per the Apprentices Act. The OBC-NCL certificate must be valid from 01.04.2026.
NLC Apprentice Selection Process
There is no written test or interview for the NLC apprentice 2026. Selection is based on merit:
- Trade Apprentices: percentage of marks in the qualifying ITI exam.
- Graduate Apprentices: percentage of marks in the bachelor's degree. If CGPA is given and the university has no conversion rule, CGPA × 10 is used; semester / year-wise marks are averaged.
- If marks are equal at the cut-off, the older candidate gets preference.
Completing apprenticeship at NLC does not give any right to a job in NLC India Limited.
