MEXT Scholarship 2027 – Benefits and Financial Support
All three categories of MEXT Scholarship 2027 offer the following benefits:
- Monthly Allowance: 117,000 Yen per month (approximately Rs. 68,800/- per month)
- Education Fees: Fully exempted – No tuition fees payable
- Traveling Expenses: Round-trip airfare between India and Japan will be provided
- Preparatory Education: One year of Japanese language and subject preparatory education upon arrival in Japan (for most categories)
- No Repayment Required: This is a fully funded grant-based scholarship, not a loan

Selection Process for MEXT Scholarship 2027
The MEXT Scholarship selection is a two-stage process:
Stage 1 – First Screening (conducted in India): Written Examination (subject varies by category and field of study)
- Interview (conducted online)
- Shortlisted candidates are notified by the Second Week of June 2026
- Results of First Screening notified by End of July 2026
Stage 2 – Worldwide Final Screening by MEXT (conducted in Japan):
- Approximately 12 candidates who pass the First Screening from India will proceed to the worldwide final screening conducted by MEXT, Japan
- Final selection is made by MEXT, Japan
