Indian Army TES 56 Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility conditions to apply for TES-56:

Nationality:

Candidate must be an unmarried male and must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, OR
  • A subject of Nepal, OR
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India (requires eligibility certificate from Government of India; not required for Gorkha subjects of Nepal)

Marital Status (Very Important):

  • Only unmarried males are eligible to apply
  • Candidates must give an undertaking not to marry until they complete full training
  • A candidate who marries after the application date, even if successful, will NOT be selected for training
  • A candidate who marries during training will be discharged and will be liable to refund all training expenditure incurred by the Government

Indian Army TES 56 Age Limit 2026

  • Minimum Age: 16½ years as on 01 January 2027
  • Maximum Age: 19½ years as on 01 January 2027
  • Eligible Date of Birth: Not before 01 July 2007 and not after 01 July 2010 (both days inclusive)

Important Notes on Age:

  • Only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) certificate will be accepted as proof of age
  • Admit Card, Mark Sheet, Transfer/Leaving Certificate are NOT acceptable as proof of date of birth
  • Once a date of birth is entered in records, no change will be allowed subsequently under any circumstances

Indian Army TES 56 Educational Qualification 2026

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognised Education Board
  • Minimum aggregate marks required: 60% in PCM subjects
  • PCM percentage will be calculated based on marks obtained in Class 12 only
  • Candidates must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026 — this is MANDATORY
  • All candidates must fill their JEE Mains 2026 Application Number in the online form (for B.E/B.Tech courses only)
  • Revised mark sheets issued by a Board/University after the last date of submitting the online application will NOT be accepted for this course
  • While filling the form, candidates must indicate exact PCM percentage up to two decimal places — rounding off is NOT permitted
  • Any false entry of PCM percentage detected at any stage will result in outright rejection of candidature

Indian Army TES 56 Selection Process 2026

The complete selection process for Indian Army TES 56 2026 is as follows:

Stage 1 — Shortlisting:

  • Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army) will shortlist applications based on JEE Mains Common Rank List (CRL) and other laid-down parameters
  • Cut-off will be fixed without assigning any reason
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified through their registered email ID

Stage 2 — SSB (Service Selection Board) Interview:

  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo a 5-day SSB at one of the following Selection Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), or Jalandhar (Punjab)
  • SSB consists of two stages — Stage I (Screening) and Stage II (Psychological Test, GTO Tasks, Personal Interview)
  • Candidates who fail Stage I will be returned on the same day
  • SSB is tentatively scheduled between August and September 2026
  • Call-up letters for SSB will be issued by Selection Centres on the candidate's registered email ID and SMS only
  • No request for change of SSB Centre/Date will be entertained

Stage 3 — Medical Examination:

  • Candidates recommended by SSB will undergo medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital
  • Medical Board proceedings are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone
  • Directorate General of Recruiting has no role in Medical Boards

Stage 4 — Merit List and Joining Letter:

  • Merit list will be prepared based ONLY on marks obtained by candidates at SSB
  • Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, and NCC background have NO role in finalising the merit list
  • Candidates recommended by SSB and declared medically fit will be issued Joining Letters in order of merit, subject to available vacancies
  • Final merit list will be displayed on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in before induction

Indian Army TES 56 Pay, Stipend and Salary 2026

Stipend During Training:

  • Gentlemen Cadets will receive a stipend of Rs. 56,100/- per month while at IMA (during the 4th year only)
  • During the first 3 years at CTW, no stipend is paid; Army Group Insurance (AGIF) cover of Rs. 30 Lakhs is provided on payment of one-time non-refundable premium of Rs. 14,000/-

Rank and Pay After Commissioning:

  • On successful completion of 4-year training, Gentleman Cadets will be commissioned as Lieutenant
  • CTC: Approximately Rs. 17-18 Lakhs per annum (Level 10 in the Pay Matrix, excluding free medical cover and home town travel once a year)

Indian Army TES 56 Minimum Physical Standards for Training

Candidates who receive Joining Letters must achieve the following minimum physical standards on arrival at the training academy:

  • 2.4 km Run: 10 minutes 30 seconds
  • Push Ups: 40
  • Pull Ups: 06
  • Sit Ups: 30
  • Squats: Two sets of 30 repetitions
  • Lunges: Two sets of 10 repetitions
  • Swimming: Should know fundamentals of swimming

Step 1: Visit the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in on or after 13th May 2026 at 1200 hrs.

Step 2: Click on the 'Online Application' button on the website and follow the procedure for registration.

Step 3: Enter all your details carefully in the online application. Read the terms and conditions linked to the form before submitting.

Step 4: Enter exact PCM percentage up to two decimal places — do not round off.

Step 5: Enter your JEE (Mains) 2026 Application Number (mandatory for B.E/B.Tech courses).

Step 6: Make changes to incorrectly filled data before closing of online applications. Each time you edit, you must click 'Submit' again.
