The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Director General (Aeronautical Systems), has released the DRDO DG Aeronautical Systems Paid Internship Scheme 2026-27 Notification under Advertisement No. DRDO/DG(Aero)/PI/001/2026, inviting applications from Final Year Undergraduate and Postgraduate Engineering and Science Stream students for a 6-month Paid Internship at five premier DRDO labs under the Aeronautical Systems cluster. A total of 200 internship slots are available across ADE, ADRDE, CABS, CEMILAC, and GTRE — all leading defence R&D establishments. Eligible candidates can apply by sending their application along with required documents to the respective lab email IDs. The application window is open from 26th May 2026 to 5th June 2026.
DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026 Notification Out
The DRDO DG (Aeronautical Systems) Paid Internship Scheme 2026-27 Notification has been officially released by the Director General (Aeronautical Systems), DRDO. The Aeronautical Systems cluster is engaged in the development of state-of-the-art Unmanned Air Vehicles, Aero Gas Turbine Engine Technology, Airborne Surveillance Systems, Parachutes, Decelerators, and Lighter-than-Air Systems. The cluster comprises four labs — ADE, ADRDE, CABS, GTRE — and CEMILAC, which provides concurrent airworthiness certification and support to indigenous development. About the Participating Labs
ADE – Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bangalore
Established in January 1959, ADE has emerged as the major aeronautical systems research laboratory of DRDO covering all aspects of aeronautical research, design, and development relevant to military aviation. The lab is engaged in design and development of air-launched expendable target aircraft systems, pilot training simulators, re-usable rocket pods, electro-optic sensors, Flight Control Systems, digital fly-by-wire FCS for Light Combat Aircraft, GFRP composite radome technology, UAVs, Remotely Piloted Strike Aircraft, and Cruise Missiles.
ADRDE – Aerial Delivery Research & Development Establishment, Agra
An AS9100D certified pioneer R&D establishment under DRDO, ADRDE is engaged in design and development of Parachute Systems, Aerial Delivery Systems, Aircraft Arrester Barrier Systems, Heavy Drop Systems, Lighter-than-Air Systems, and Floatation Systems. The lab has also contributed to ISRO's Space Capsule Recovery Experiment and the prestigious Gaganyaan Human Space Programme.
GTRE – Gas Turbine Research Establishment, Bangalore
GTRE is one of the pioneering R&D organizations under the Ministry of Defence, primarily responsible for designing and developing gas-turbine engines for military applications. The establishment carries out advanced research in gas-turbine sub-systems and maintains strong computational, prototype manufacturing, and test facilities for component and full-scale engine development.
CEMILAC – Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification, Bangalore
CEMILAC is responsible for Airworthiness Certification of Military Airborne Stores and continued airworthiness of systems and sub-systems on military airborne platforms. Its certification coverage includes Aircraft, UAVs, Engines, Avionics LRUs, Biomedical equipment, and Software for Aircraft, Helicopters, UAVs, and Missiles. CEMILAC has 18 Regional Centres for Military Airworthiness (RCMAs) spread across the nation.
CABS – Centre for Airborne Systems, Bangalore
CABS is a premier research establishment of DRDO involved in the design and development of indigenous Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems through Airborne Surveillance Platform (ASP) technology.

DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Academic Eligibility
- Final Year Undergraduate (UG) or Postgraduate (PG) students in Engineering or Science streams.
- Minimum CGPA: 6.5
- 6th Semester marksheet for UG and 2nd Semester marksheet for PG are mandatory at the time of application.
- If 6th Semester (UG) or 2nd Semester (PG) results are not yet declared at the time of applying, the average marks of 4th and 5th Semester (for UG) or 1st Semester (for PG) will be considered for eligibility screening.
- The 6th Semester (UG) / 2nd Semester (PG) marksheet must be submitted at the time of joining, failing which the internship will not be offered.
- Candidates must register for the full 6-month internship duration.
Nationality
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
- Students who have studied or are currently studying in countries outside India are not eligible.
DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026 – Stipend
Selected interns will receive a total stipend of ₹30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) paid in two equal installments:
- ₹15,000/- after completion of the first 3 months
- ₹15,000/- after completion of the next 3 months
Important: If the intern leaves the internship before completion of the entire 6-month duration, he/she will NOT be issued a completion certificate.
DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026 – Important Instructions
Security Requirements:
- Before joining, students must submit a Police Clearance Certificate from local police authorities of their domicile/residence along with a valid Photo ID having address proof.
- Students will not be allowed to bring laptops, mobile phones, smart watches, USB dongles, or any other storage media inside the lab premises.
Discipline & Attendance:
- Students must be physically present for a minimum of 15 days in a month.
- A scientist will be earmarked as a guide for the entire internship period.
- Students must submit a progress report after 3 months and a project report after 6 months.
- Students must abide by working hours and security rules of the respective lab.
- Students should not mention or misrepresent any DRDO Lab on social media.
- Any violation of conditions will lead to immediate termination of the internship without any notice.
- The lab will not provide marks/grades/evaluation for the student.
Other Important Points:
- A student can apply for internship in multiple labs by submitting separate applications to each lab.
- Selection as an intern in no way guarantees a job in DRDO at a later date.
- Arrangement for accommodation and logistics is entirely the student's own responsibility.

How to Apply for DRDO DG Aero Paid Internship 2026
Candidates must download the application form from the DRDO website, fill it completely, and send it along with the required documents in PDF format to the email ID of the respective lab before 5th June 2026. Separate applications must be submitted to each lab if applying to multiple labs.
Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained. Applications with false or incomplete information will be rejected. Applications through any mode other than email to the respective lab will not be accepted.
