CGPSC State Engineering Service Exam 2026: Online Registration Begins for 46 Assistant Engineer Vacancies

The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has officially launched online registration for the CGPSC State Engineering Service Exam 2026 (Advertisement No. 02/2026/Exam, dated 08/05/2026). A total of 46 vacancies for the post of Assistant Engineer (AE) across multiple departments are being filled through this recruitment. Eligible candidates can apply online at psc.cg.gov.in from 13 May 2026 to 11 June 2026.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from a university established or incorporated by a Central or State Legislature Act, or from an institution recognised under UGC Act-1956 (Section 3).
  • For the post of AE (Civil) under General Administration Dept. (Vigilance): AMIE (Part A & B pass certificate) is also accepted as equivalent to a BE/B.Tech degree (as per GAD circular No. 7/2597/1/31/78 dated 01/01/1979).

All required educational qualification certificates must be obtained on or before the last date of application (11 June 2026). Certificates issued after the deadline will not be accepted.

Probation Period

Selected candidates will be appointed on a probation period of 3 years.

How to Apply for CGPSC State Engineering Service Exam 2026

Step 1: Visit the official CGPSC website at www.psc.cg.gov.in.

Step 2: New candidates must register first via the Candidate's Registration page by entering name, father's name, mother's name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and ID proof number. Click Generate OTP.

Step 3: Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile and email. A link for live photo capture will be sent to your mobile. Click Open Camera to upload a live photo — ensure your face covers about 80% of the frame, both ears are visible, eyes are open, and the background is a light solid colour.

Step 4: Upload your signature (black ballpoint pen on white paper, scanned as JPG, max 100 KB — scan only the signature, not the background).

Step 5: After successful photo and signature upload, click Save and then click the Apply button on your dashboard for the relevant post.

Step 6: Fill in all required details carefully and proceed to fee payment using your preferred online mode.

Step 7: After successful payment, your application acknowledgement receipt will be generated. Download and print it — keep it safe until the selection process is complete.

Selection Process – CGPSC Assistant Engineer 2026

Selection will be done through a two-stage process:

Stage 1 – Written Examination (Objective Type)

The written exam consists of two papers, each carrying 150 questions and 300 marks:

Key Examination Rules:

  • Question type: Objective/Multiple Choice (MCQ) with 4 options (A, B, C, D)
  • No negative marking
  • Paper I will be in Hindi and English; Paper II in English only
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 40% per paper (30% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
  • Computer-Based Test (CBT) may be used depending on the number of applicants

Exam Centres: Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, and Jagdalpur

Stage 2 – Interview (Viva Voce)

  • Candidates shortlisted from Stage 1 (approximately 3 times the number of vacancies per engineering discipline) will be called for interview
  • Interview carries 75 marks (no minimum qualifying marks)
  • If CGPSC decides to skip the written exam (based on low application count), a 100-mark direct interview will be held, with minimum qualifying marks of 33 (23 for SC/ST/OBC)

Final Merit List

Selection will be based on the combined marks of written exam and interview, in order of merit and category-wise.
